The Dancing Boys Of Afghanistan

Did anyone watch this?

I've managed 14 minutes so far and I don't think I can go any further.

I've a strong stomach but this is too much.

I can't understand how these people can do this and then go and pray publicly thinking that they're righteous people. I can't understand how they can do it at all actually.

I managed about 15 min too. There is such a long tradition of sodomy w. boys in Afghanistan that I think it is no longer seen as incompatible with religious or family life by many (men esp. of course, no idea what the women think).

Made me feel sick to my stomach - not used to seeing pedophiles talk openly about their desires and practices.

Felt the same, watched all the way through as desperately wanted to see those boys saved, awful, awful, no words really

I watched it. I didn't quite understand how paedophilia can be so entrenched in 'normal' life - unless the portrayal was incorrect. Utterly heart breaking for the children.

I watched the rest of it this morning as I wanted to know what happened to the boys.

At least Shafiq has been rescued but I can't believe that man,I can't remember his name, is still out there continuing to abuse boys like that.

It was certainly one of the most harrowing documentaries I've ever watched.

It was particuarly disturbing to see two of the officers who were assigned to help these children enjoying a performance from one of the dancing boys at a wedding.

It was so disturbing and heartbreaking, that poor boy who got into the car so innocently was unbearable to watch. And it was quite chilling to see the dancing boy who had plans to start his own pimping business - probably because that's all he knows. It is such a messed up country in so many ways.

moffat · 21/04/2010 18:41
