BariatricObama · 07/04/2010 21:13

i can't believe she had to go on some shitey tv show to get a diagnosis

nigglewiggle · 07/04/2010 21:13

I missed the beginning - did they explain why the parents had not taken her to a doctor earlier?

candyfluff · 07/04/2010 21:14

its like that indonesian man who had them all over his body in a programme called bodyshock - it looked like his hands and feet had turned to tree trunks
dede i think he was called - maybe you tube it or i can

poshtottie · 07/04/2010 21:14

OnlyWantsOne · 07/04/2010 21:21

Oh heck the little brothers are a match

shit

this programme is making me cry

turns it off

OnlyWantsOne · 07/04/2010 21:22

they think shes old enough to hear she may die?

fuck off

geordieminx · 07/04/2010 21:22

Poor wee soul.

They said that her parents had taken her to doctors, they had seen specialists etc. Doesnt give you much faith in the medical system does it, that as someone said she had to go on a crappy tv programme

You could tell that dr chris was shocked.

Tears here too.

castille · 07/04/2010 21:32

I remember seeing this ages ago in the original series.

Can't watch the prog though as DH and FIL are glued to the footie, so do tell what happened to her, poor thing

MinicronPerseiEgg · 07/04/2010 21:33

I remember watching it when she was first diagnosed. I did think how lucky she was that at least this doctor correctly diagnosed her straight away.

I started crying the same time as the mum when they were told that up to 10% don't make the transplant process.

MinicronPerseiEgg · 07/04/2010 21:33

Don't make it (ie die) in the process I mean.

MinicronPerseiEgg · 07/04/2010 21:36

Castille, she needs a bone marrow transplant (from her sister), as what immunity she has at present gets weaker as she gets older.

They surgically removed all her verucas, they were growing back within 9 weeks of the op. .

She has to have chemo to prepare her for the bone marrow transplant. Poor wee thing.

startagain · 07/04/2010 21:44

this poor child

castille · 07/04/2010 21:53

God how awful

I am gobsmacked no one did a blood test before she went on telly.

Hope she makes it.

ThatVikRinA22 · 07/04/2010 22:00

should i watch it on ch4 plus 1? or will i just make myself cry...

MinicronPerseiEgg · 07/04/2010 22:01

The transplant went well - as judged by retreating verrucas! What a journey for that family. Makes me want to join the bone marrow register.

ThatVikRinA22 · 07/04/2010 22:07

jeesus ive only just started watching - what the fuck was her family gp doing to not do some simple checks?

Nettiespagetti · 07/04/2010 22:07

Aw gosh i can't stop crying! Poor lil family

SuSylvester · 07/04/2010 22:09

i thought they were utterly charming - check out hte BODEN lady!

i thought harry was so sweet wanting to help. The parents were so strong when they fet so torn. I had ds4 under anaesthetic twice for relatively trivial things and i can tell you it is TERRIFYING

good wishes to them all

geordieminx · 07/04/2010 22:14

She looked like Emma Thompson
