I heard a rumour that the budget has been cut, but they have worked out that if they reduce the run to 10 weeks they can afford better slebs than recent yrs. Anyone else heard this?

Haven't heard anything myself but am defo a confirmed Strictly Addict!

I have to say though that the last series was starting to get a tad tiresome. Perhaps it had got a bit too big.

Personally I watch for the pro dancers, not the celebs -I've danced salsa for years and took up Latin American in 2008.

They definitely have too many people - or it runs for too long - not sure which. I do love Strictly, but it does seem to go on forever. I think either eliminate a couple of people per episode early on, or just have fewer couples. Alternatively, aim to have 3 or even 4 couples in the final. Having just 2 couples in the final is a bit dull.

I love that it goes on for so long! It reminds me of cozy evenings in front of my log burner, curled up with DH (he loves strictly too). Its like a count-down to christmas.

On the other hand, some of the slebs are a bit un-slebby lately. I reckon the pro-dancers are much bigger Slebs than the Slebs now.

I heard they were increasing the budget to get better slebs, so they can compete with x-factor.

But aren't BBC considering moving the show to Blackpool as it is cheaper than London studios??

KurriKurri · 01/04/2010 00:02

Oh I hope so - I love the shows from Blackpool.

Some decent slebs wouldn't go amiss! If Dancing With The Stars can have a Pussycat Doll surely we can have, say, Ashley Banjo from Diversity [wipes a little drool away]

My suggestions would be:

  1. 3 judges (like DWTS): Len, Craig and Karen Hardy or Camilla Dallerup.
  1. Cut number of shows.
  1. Drop the dance-off.
  1. Get rid of dreadful K-tel singers.
  1. Get rid of Bruce.
  1. Reduce number of VTs where celebs go on about their journey and how much winning means to them.
  1. Three couples in final.
  1. Keep Brian Fortuna

I think they should be given one or two set moves that they have to incorporate into their routines each week. They can have one basic move and one harder move and they can demonstrate them on It Takes Two during the week so the public know what to look for.
It would also help people to understand things when Len is talking about the technical aspects.
