Is anyone watching Enid on BBC1?

I loved Enid Blyton's books when I was little although I don't like them now and hope DD doesn't go anywhere near them...

I knew Ms Blyton was a bit of a cow - especially to her own children - but if this programme is at all accurate, she really was quite an unpleasant woman or a product of her upbringing if one wants to be sympathetic!

I saw this a few months ago on BBC3 I think. Was very good and very watchable. She did seem to be a completely cold hearted cow - I actually cried at one point over how she treated her husband and daughters.

But then, near the end, the scene where she shows her second husband the picture of Noddy and puts his character on the hall table next to the photographs of her daughters, was so touching and humanising, I cried again!

I loved her as a child, and I must say that watching this I felt disappointed in myself for that . Couldn't watch the whole thing though, will do so on iplayer.

Ooo, she was a cow, if this is to be believed! Cannot believe she banged out nearly 800 books in her career - that's about one a fortnight! No wonder she had no time for her kids!

No, no, SparklyJules, the Noddy bit was awful as it showed her push the photo of her daughters back to give more prominence to Noddy. She really was a bit lacking in the maternal department.

Betty - I think you win tonight's award for classic British understatement! Thank you for making me laugh out loud (well, snort actually) when I've had a pretty pants day and am getting all huffy on another thread.
