Sadly, there are all too many penises (is that the plural?) in my life but none have a decent man attached. Not, I should add, that I actually experience the penises. I just assume they have them...

Anyway...

I found moving in labour so difficult. Once I was on all fours/squatting/kneeling/whatever fine, but moving was the most gargantuan effort and phsyically hurt.

I remember making up a "nest" on the floor for a young Mum in labour once. The hospital was a very high intervention one. Some of the other midwives were horrified "she's delvering on the floor". "No you idiots - she's delivering her baby actively with a free range of movement" was my response.

Poor Joy, she has my total sympathies. I was in labour for 3 days before an emergency cs and I was absolutley exhausted by then.

Love the new midwife. I had three day back labour and failure to progress, ending in em cs...in retrospect I do wonder whether it was too much intervention and not much moving about - but I was so tired, ankles all swollen, I didn't want to move much
