More4 at 11.50pm tonight. Not the documentary, the Jessica Lange / Drew Barrymore film. wiki

Do record it, you can't get it on dvd and it is much better than I had hoped with loads of interesting back story about the Edies.

Oh I'm a big Grey Garden's fan!

Have the movie recorded since last time it was on and have watched it 5 times

Also made DP download the original and have watched that twice!

Drew Barrymore is bloody fantastic as Little Edie and Jessica Lange fab too.

Such an interesting story.

Watched this and the original doc at Christmas. Never seen them before but heard about them. Had to have a long think about which one to watch first and went for the Doc followed by the film. The performances are to a "t". Nobody else I know had even heard about it and dh's eyes fell out with boredom when I tried to tell him about it but it was the highlight of my (sad) Christmas viewing on telly.

fishie · 23/02/2010 20:37

my sister thinks drew is distantly related to edie. it was our xmas highlight too.

i have got the times wrong, it is a documentary first, then the film.

have seen the documentary, can't really understand why a film was made too as the doc is perfect.

fishie · 23/02/2010 20:43

yes sea i was worried about that too, but sister made me watch it and she was right. it is a lovely accompaniment to the doc.

Saw the doc for the first time after hearing about it endlessly - it was divine! I'm obsessed... (can we have an 'obsessed' smiley please?)

Didn't record the film (stupidly) so will have to catch up some other way.

AND there was a Broadway musical
DIVINE!

i loved the bit when she gave that whole pack of sliced bread to the racoons in the loft !

was reading about them on wikipedia, sort of mad i feel asleep for the film now.

I'd never seen the film before and watched it last night. It was fantastic! I really enjoyed it. Drew Barrymore was excellent..what a good actress she is. She's so good at unusual characters.

Is the documentary on again? I'd really like to see it. I've always been interested in Jackie Kennedy/O and her family.

I recorded the film but not the documentary. I think I got confused between the two, because the film is partly about the documentary.

southeastastra · 25/02/2010 13:30

the documentary isn't going to be on again in the near future afaik. some small clips on youtube. worth buying imo it's on amazon

BendyBob · 25/02/2010 13:36

Ooh that's shame. I've just been trawling the tv index, but you're right, it's not there anymore. Thanks for the link though!

MyMamaToldMe · 25/02/2010 17:16

Ahh this sounds like my cup of tea - gutted I missed it.

fishie · 25/02/2010 17:20

yes you can buy the doc, but not the film alas. maybe c4 will show it again.

i had a look on us amazon yesterday, there are some really cool looking books by mayles' daughters and an exciting woman who lived with the edies at the end.
