Eastenders -how does carol know max?

Sorry I'm being lazy again and can't be bothered to work it out but can someone tell me how Carol Jackson knows Max branning?

I remember when the Branning family were first introduced, many many years ago. They were depicted as a bunch of racists who ostracised their sister Carol because she'd married a black man.

Does anyone remember who originally played the Branning brothers and Carols Dad?

Carols dad is Jim, played by John Bardon, as he is now. The brothers werent in it years ago. originally there was a sister called April, and last year the other sister Susie turned up, and had a relationship with Phil Mitchell.

Tehy are brother and sister.

Jim is Carol, susie, Max and Jack are all brother and sisters.

I'd never heard of April.

And I thought Carol, Billy etc left because they had to go and live in a safe house, after Billy had to be a witness for something or other.....were Carol and Bianca still at war then?

Think Carol, Billy (and Alan and Sonia too?) left for witness protection and when they came back Carol had new bloke Dan, who Bianca had affair with, hence the war.

I remember April too.
