...thank you for your concerns about Series 3. I think I can relieve you on all points.
1. White men
Both series have successfully placed white males in the pre-agreed categories (rapist, sadist, murderer, insane, power-obsessed).
I agree that we now need to broaden the scope and provide a positive white male role. The diversity committee continues to insist he should be of non-English background. We also need to fulfil criterion 2 b) iii (see attached schedule). The easiest way to do this, I suggest, would be to make the new Series 3 male a gay Welsh disabled man (slight concerns about the Little Britain undertones here, obviously we'd have to be sensitive).
In this way we also fulfil criterion 2 b) iv and b) v.
2. Ethnic minorities
We seem to have persuaded viewers that a group of random British people meeting on the motorway (love the Chaucer reference!) would comprise a non-white component of over a third, despite the true figure being nearer 10-12%. Well done. Who said demographics was an exact science, anyway!
3. Gay/bisexual
Obviously a female bisexual doctor with Polish antecedents ticks a few boxes but we may want to broaden this out in the next series. Ideas please for further characters in this line.
4. White British non-English element (aka, the Scottish element)
We now have two groups led by female Scots. This is excellent. To avoid charges of bias, I suggest that a further group is discovered, led by a woman from Northern Ireland. I note that the new Scottish group leader is also gay, thus fulfilling further criterion 2 b) iv.
Congratulations on this series--the diversity committee appointed by the BBC to supervise this programme is very pleased.
