Is it just me, but I just can't take to this actor/character. He seems altogether too stage schooley and all too aware of himself to be cute or easy to empathise with.

Given that he has a big storyline coming up, I wonder if that will change my mind

PS I also can't get the image of him in the cereal ad out of my head!

I think he's good actually, not stage-schooley at all! Much better than the usual abnormally-silent children, who meekly trot about doing exactly as they're told. I think Tiffany (Bianca's daughter) in Eastenders is good too.

What cereal advert was he in?
And what's the big storyline?

mehdismummy · 06/02/2010 08:55

apparently ds looks a bit like him!! i love tiff!!!!

ssd · 06/02/2010 09:05

I can't stand him

Peaceflower · 06/02/2010 09:08

Looks like he may have some fans... Simon was in a Rice Krispies ad, don't think it's been on air recently.

As far as the big storyline goes, I don't want to spoil it for those who don't know. If you do a websearch, you'll find there's been some coverage over the last two weeks about a controversial storyline. If you have no luck, let me know and I will fill you in.

Surely George is going to use Peter's relapse against him and try to get custody at some point.

I think Simon is great, at least he has a bit of character, unlike Steve's Amy - omg wooden - won't be long before they replace her IMO

HarveysFurniture · 04/03/2010 17:36

I agree with peggotty, I like him!

Prefer Simon to Amy - she just stares - since when has there ever been such a silent 5/6 year old? I can't shut mine up! Bethany was the same - I guess they pick quiet kids so they don't mess up the adult storylines but it is so unreal. (Like Dev's acting)

The one thing I would say is that they give him lines that don't sound like a kid of his age would naturally say, which makes him sound awkward.

letsblowthistacostand · 05/03/2010 20:35

Oh I love Simon. He's so cute, don't think he's stage-schooley at all. Amy on the other hand just sits like a broken-down doll no matter what they're doing to her.

Remotew · 05/03/2010 20:39

Her mum just sat like a wooden doll (Tracy) then look what happened.

MrsDinky · 05/03/2010 20:47

AMy is scarily quiet, she is supposed to be exactly the same age as my DS and they are SO different. I like Simon, but agree that the stuff he comes out with is far too advanced for his age.

Always find it astonishing how little time people in Corrie seem to spend with their children (Clare Peacock comes to mind).

Housemum · 05/03/2010 23:32

I suppose it's because there are so many restrictions on child performance licenses - kids can only work at certain times of day, for a certain number of hours etc. I guess they only use them when they have to (also makes it easier when they change actors like whichever Webster it was that was off screen for a few months then was a totally different actor!)

Monadami · 06/03/2010 00:52

Funny little boy, he wouldn't look out of place in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

Monadami · 06/03/2010 00:54

P.S I've asked before, but is Amy, Steve Macdonald's daughter also one of the child dancers in the CBeebies Winter song vid? I'm sure it is her, looks vacant in that as well.

leavingonajetplane · 06/03/2010 19:31

I really like Simon, and blame the writers not his acting. Hes coming along and seems likely to grow up with the part if they let him. Tiff in Eastenders is just excellent whatever they give her to do though. And they both seem to be enjoying themselves.

Amy otoh disturbs me as the child looks like shes very uncomfortable and doesnt enjoy what shes having to do. Perhaps she didnt mind when she started, I wasnt watching then, but she certainly doesnt seem to like it now.

kittya · 07/03/2010 23:25

Is it true that Tracey's coming back?

leavingonajetplane · 08/03/2010 00:12

Yes in a really stretching-credibility (even for Corrie) way

kittya · 08/03/2010 00:13

I always liked her though, she spiced things up!

leavingonajetplane · 08/03/2010 00:39

One can only hope Tracy cheers up her poor child.

Wish Blanche was around to play off Tracy, I really miss her. Thought she was a great comic actress and had some rare good moments of pathos that Corrie can pull off well at times.

HarveysFurniture · 09/03/2010 14:56

I'm excited to hear that Tracy will be coming back.

Hopefully she'll stir up some trouble on the cobbles!
