We kept our son downstairs past his bedtime because we wanted to watch the last Doctor Who on New Years Day ( he's only 2) and now he's obsessed with Doctor Who- He begs to watch it on BBC3 every day, goes around pretending he's got a sonic screwdriver shouting 'Doctor, Doctor!'and stuck his arms out to regenerate! Do you think 2 is a bit too young to let him watch it? It's quite funny watching him, but I dont want him to be traumatised by the aliens and things...

This is perfectly normal. My son went through stages of wanting to be called different things (the milkman (no idea why, we didn't have a milkman), the bus driver, the fireman, Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker) He's now a demonic presence from outer space. He's 10, I just agree, it's easier.

2 is a little young to be watching Dr Who though IMO, sorry.

I know-I shouldnt use my son for my own amusement! I might have to put a stop to it for a couple of years. He doesn't watch that much telly overall though!

I quite like Dr Who, maybe watch it on demand and introduce him to the joys of thomas the tank engine?

I think at 2 a lot of it goes over their heads tbh.

But I´d rather a 2yr old be watching Thomas etc.

It wouldn´t occur to me to let a 2yr old watch Dr Who.

It didn't occur to me that he'd be remotely interested- he isn't in most telly- not even in the night garden- but he was transfixed. I've started distracting him with some cbeebies whenever he asks now.

Wow, I wouldn't let my 6 year old watch Dr Who. I had to go round the house turning the lights on after watching the Waters of Mars on my own!
