Much better concept than the UK version with everyone having to compete with each other first rather than 6 at a time. Anyone else watching this?

Sam to win!

I'm watching it, recorded the last few eposides so, last thing i saw was michelle[?] leave, and the next eposide is the master class with the 2 chefs, going to watch it tomorrow.
totally agree with Sam to win, can't stand the other young guy though, the one they wern't sure about in the eliminations.... proper cocky [i'm not brill with names as you can tell, lol!!!]

LadyPenopleeeeee · 31/01/2010 00:56

I watched one episode today where they were being shown how to make (posh) mash.

Thught it was quite bizaree watching it, bit like I was having a free cooking lesson, which isn't a bad thing but a bit odd I thought.

Nettee · 01/02/2010 16:35

we are enjoying it but can't help thinking they have borrowed heavily from the x factor, project catwalk, the weakest link and any other reality show you can think of - liking the variety though compared to the british version

TwoIfBySea · 02/02/2010 23:09

yeay I'm not alone then!

Nettee, I think they've borrowed a lot from Australia's Next Top Model because they had that warehouse style set too!

This is so addictive ! Can't get used to the format though and must have missed the invention test (is it Sunday ?). Great variety of rounds , esp like the celebrity chef cook off.

Nikki87 · 20/02/2010 12:53

i can't believe Kate has gone, i really liked her, i'm being to get more and more annoyed each day by Aaron though, so full of himself!!

febes · 21/02/2010 12:48

I have become addicted to MCA and have it on sky+. I really like the variety but agree that it is borrowing from other reality concepts. I'd love to see a UK version as you get to know the contestants quite closely. It reminds me mostly of The Apprentice.

Ponymum · 21/02/2010 14:25

We're addicted to this and also have it on Sky+. At first I thought the format was bizarre, and agree it is very Apprentice, but it is really growing on me now. I like the masterclass sessions as I am learning such a lot. The standard seems to be a lot higher than the UK version too I think.

Once the UK one started again this week all I could think was how tired the format looks compared to the Aussie one. I actually began to think that they should borrow some of the ideas from the Aussie version. I don't agree with the contestants voting off team members though - that's just cruel!

febes · 22/02/2010 16:29

Hope the guys goes out in the cook off. The women both are very passionate. The guys with the hat is doing really well. I like is beer concept. I'm not very good at names!

Nikki87 · 22/02/2010 22:18

i hope Aaron leaves too, hes so cocky! beer guy is good, but i think Sam to win

strig · 22/02/2010 22:27

I am so addicted - I am Australian and worked for Tom for a short while a couple of years ago - he was lovely! Don't want beer/ hat guy to win as he is so annoying - so far have resisted temptation to google winner!! I love the master classes as well may even try to make risotto for the first time. Australia does like a bit more razzmatazz in their shows I think it's America?s influence - you should see Australia?s Deal or no Deal! Much more understated here.

Ponymum · 23/02/2010 15:32

I am glad Aaron left last night, but his face was a tragedy, wasn't it? He really couldn't comprehend that he was actually being sent home. I did feel sorry for him just for a moment, but have been astounded at his arrogance and self belief which seems completely out of proportion to his ability!

My money is on Poh to win. She's not messed up yet.

LIZS · 07/04/2010 15:47

At last it's Finals week !! Been a long time coming. And they are messing around with the schedules

LIZS · 08/04/2010 10:30

noone else still watching then ? Just Poh , Chris or Julie left ...

febes · 08/04/2010 10:39

I looooove it still. Poh was awesome in the pie test. Chris is so sure he will win. Poor Julie I love her and thought she was a goner the other day. Luckily Lucas won. Haven't seen last nights one yet.

LIZS · 08/04/2010 10:42

ah good I'm not talking to myself after all ! It seems much more emotionally charged than the UK one because the judges have got to know the contestants over a prolonged period and the group have lived together. They were all blubbing last night. Great showcase for a variety of cuisines too.

QueenThistle · 08/04/2010 13:55

Season 2 starts here soon...squeee!

LIZS · 11/04/2010 17:40

Excellent, hope uktv pick it up again . Season 1 Finale showing here tonight !!

Clayhead · 11/04/2010 19:50

I have loved this, so much better than the British one, which I didn't bother with this time.

Love the three judges all lined up and the height discrepancy

Skimummy · 11/04/2010 21:05

I loved it too - and the end of the finale bought a tear to my eye...
