I've seen it all. is a great series. Enjoy ladies

policywonk · 28/01/2010 10:48

(Hope you have a great time Len - maybe speak to you later.)

policywonk · 28/01/2010 10:49

You lot who have already seen it - are you in the States or have you been bit-torrenting?

Wordsmith · 28/01/2010 10:57

This is by far the most stylish and intelligent drama on TV - I've watched it since the beginning and am so glad it's back on for series 3.

Leningrad - the women are the best thing about it! Reminds me a bit of the first half on Marilyn French's 'The Women's Room'.

Having said that. I could look at Don Draper all day, even though he is a slimy cheating bastard.

I worked as a copywriter in advertising in the 80's (in UK, not in New York) and the way Peggy is treated and marginalised from the boys' club was quite reminiscent! Creatives were (and still are from those I know) macho dick-swingers.

DecorHate · 28/01/2010 12:10

Gosh have just read read the Season 2 recap and can't believe how long ago it seems - I have already seen Season 3.

Tbh I was a little disappointed with Season 3 - think it is flagging a bit...

southeastastra · 28/01/2010 15:12

did anyone else think joan looked a bit, well, over padded?

policywonk · 28/01/2010 16:18

Hmm yes, she did look at tad plumper than usual. I was thinking 'that's MY figure' (except my waist has been temporarily mislaid)

TheFoosa · 28/01/2010 16:35

I kept getting Pete and the new english boy Mr John Hooker mixed up, they look so similar

southeastastra · 28/01/2010 17:05

the english characters are very bland aren't they

PfftTheMagicDragon · 28/01/2010 17:20

Most of them yes, but Pryce grows on you.

policywonk · 28/01/2010 17:43

Which one is Pryce - the head honcho with the Dame Edna Everage glasses? He seems to be shaping up nicely.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 28/01/2010 19:29

ha! yes the glasses one. He was in Fringe as a super baddie. He does develop as a character, of course he has a formidable wife, rather like Pete

Starbear · 28/01/2010 22:42

can't wait for Peggy to be central to the plot again I love her story line. Joan has grown. DH thought she was growing during the programme. I love the beatnik one. & Don Draper is just so lovely but only in a suit in anything else I go off him (except naked of course!) Didn't watch the second programme because I thought I could watch it tonight on replay BUT they haven't got it I'm recording both now as I missed the beginning and they are showing again on Sunday. I love watching it on my own while DH is down the pub on quiz nights

swanriver · 29/01/2010 18:25

I thought it was too gloomy this week - and I cannot believe Draper has gone back to his old ways so quickly - especially after all he and Betty had been through.
Why has Peggy thrown herself at the most unsophisticated man she can find?
Joan looked ridiculously unbalanced like some wibblywobbly woman.

I like the roomsets though. This combination of ultra modern sleek office and backward thought.

Butkin · 05/02/2010 22:24

All three episodes we've seen so far in Series 3 are now on bbc iplayer for anybody needing to catch up. Why does the BBC show the best (and most critically acclaimed) programme they own at such a stupidly late hour? Surely it cost them a fortune to buy the rights.

There is an excellent website run by the makers (google Mad Men) but I warn you that, as it has been shown in the USA, there are spoilers up for the whole series now.

Toots · 16/02/2010 19:43

so come on. You're loving it aren't you? pete and trudy's charlston..... Sal acrting out the Patio shot anf the penny dropping for his wife.... Sally being told agsin to 'go watch TV' after granpa Gene died only to see a monk on the news stting himself on fire.

A--MAZ---INFG

sORRY bad typing. Pancakde incident cut finger, not lmemon.

southeastastra · 16/02/2010 19:46

last episode was gripping. poor sally

TheOldestCat · 16/02/2010 19:56

Oh, I'm loving this series too. Poor Sally - Betty was so cold, shutting the door on her.

SearchingForMyInnerJoan · 17/02/2010 23:10

Only ONE brief glimpse of Joan tonight
WHY?

All pretty fab though...

southeastastra · 18/02/2010 09:45

why did the prison officer ignore don later when he was wheeling his wife and baby?

and were children only allowed to glimpse the new baby from a window!

love this show - so many questions!

SearchingForMyInnerJoan · 18/02/2010 13:07

Class thing I think - their moment bonding was as waiting fathers. They had nothing else in common.
I think
Loving it all!

Starbear · 25/02/2010 22:27

Love it Love it but just too short. Not going to give the story bits as I know people record it extc... But I just love Joan, don't like Betty, feel sorry for the kid and Peggy 'You go, girl' I also want to dress like that sooo much but I do at least need to trim my tummy pencil skirt lok naff with sticky out bums and tums Hips are okay.
