Is anyone else watching this? And crying at that wee boy not knowing how old he is, and that his father never looked for him when he ran away so so sad...

it so bad was just about to start a thread too

Feelingoptimistic · 21/01/2010 21:30

I guess I have always known that life is like for some children, particularly in India, but it's hard seeing it.
Watching that little girl who sold flowers was particularly hard, because I have a little girl.

It makes me feel bad about worrying what I am going to wear tomorrow.

southeastastra · 21/01/2010 21:31

if only all the world could wake up thinking that optimistic

thenewbornnanny · 21/01/2010 21:32

It's an eye opener.

Deepa looking after her baby brother

Salam having his things stolen as he slept

I'm going to run out of kleenex.

It is sad beyond words

Feelingoptimistic · 21/01/2010 21:40

It's pretty horrific.

thenewbornnanny · 21/01/2010 21:45

What's even sadder about these children is they are so matter of fact about it all. To them, their lives are "normal" and yet there is nothing "normal" about their daily lives. They shouldn't be sleeping on the streets, sniffing glue to get rid of hunger pains, raising their baby siblings...

I wonder what organizations have volunteers there to help the children. Maybe VSO have something there. It's made me think I could help, offer care, food, education and shelter to some of those poor wee ones. I'm seriously going to look into what I could do. SO many children without a family, resorting to horrific things to survive. So sad.

I would love to adopt a child, but I know it's an extremely difficult process.

thenewbornnanny · 21/01/2010 21:55

Oh god I hope they find Salaam alive

And Deepa is only 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG

thenewbornnanny · 21/01/2010 21:56

But it is still hapeening now as we type, feel so hopeless.
Wish I could scoop them all up and make them safe.

I think it has been the most real of the 'Slums' programmes that C4 have shown.

Heart breaking.

Diege · 21/01/2010 22:33

If you go onto the channel 4 website there's information on how you can help the 4 children in the programme. There's a trust fund being set up apparently for them, plus info' on other related schemes in the area.
Agree, that programme was really heartbreaking
