First time I've watched this properly. Tis very beautiful and the story was moving.

I think I want to live there.

DarrellRivers · 18/01/2010 16:53

We are converting to swedes in our house currently
Teak, crafted furniture
Volvos all around
Looking for his ringtone at present

sowhatitsonlysnow · 18/01/2010 16:59

I was aware of the first series but didn't see it. I think it's really good.
Does a Volvo and Ikea furniture count

No-one was wearing make-up or fashionable clothes. My idea of heaven!

gizmo · 18/01/2010 17:04

I made a great discovery last night: Wallander-lite.

If you tune in for the last 30 minutes you will have time to catch up on the entire plot, admire Ken Branagh's acting, count up the Volvos (while giggling at the fact that the only people not driving them are invariably victims/villains) and enjoy the denouement, without any perceptible loss of enjoyment.

I commend it to those of you with busy 21st Century lifestyles.

sowhatitsonlysnow · 18/01/2010 17:07

gizmo - alternatively watch on iplayer and fast forward

Gizmo, that's exactly what DH did last night, and he thoroughly enjoyed it!

sowhatitsonlysnow · 18/01/2010 17:07

I love the retro style offices in the Police HQ

cocolepew · 18/01/2010 17:08

it's so boooooooring, everyone looks grey on it.

wigglybeezer · 18/01/2010 17:14

I enjoyed it, but Dh always falls asleep because it is too peaceful (he does admire the directing though and he is a director himself).

The womens' clothes are interesting though, lots of grey, drapey, layered garments, would actually suit me but i avoid becuase then I would look like my Mum.

Love the architecture and the big skies.

Ken Branagh very good at anguish.

I reckon its time for some of you to watch some Ingmar Bergman.

lovemynano · 18/01/2010 19:45

Watch the Swedish version and you'll notice no-one drives a Volvo - it's all Hyundai 4 x 4s.

sowhatitsonlysnow · 18/01/2010 19:53

lovemynano - I missed that, it was BBC 3 or 4? I tried iplayer but was too late for that!

Yes, was bbc3 (I think) - the last episodes were at Christmas. It was fabulous, but not sure if it will be repeated.

orienteerer · 23/01/2010 20:45

I'm rather out of order with this in that I have only just got around to watching episode 1 (seen 2 and about to watch 3) on iplayer)........in one shot (near end he's driving a RHD, seat belt over right shoulder etc)......don't disappoint me by saying it was UK filmed?

orienteerer · 23/01/2010 21:11

OK, I love the series but a little further along in episode 1 (about 1 hour 16 mins!), one minute he has a burnt left hand, the next minute he has the bandage on his left hand.................continuity??????

orienteerer · 23/01/2010 21:12

Opps, meant right hand (blames wine)!

orienteerer · 23/01/2010 21:15

...........and for previous post meant, near end of one shot he's driving a RHD (seat belt clearly over right shoulder etc)...........don't disappoint me by saying it was UK filmed?
