Does anyone know what the verdict of this story concluded?

yes I did basically the American doctor is alleging its munchenhausen by proxy (sp?) no one but the mother has ever seen it start.
Although is was proven to be the girls own blood and not the mothers.
They did find a minor deficiency in her blood but said that could be caused by taking Aspirin.
He asked to observe the girl for 24 hours to see it happen, then it finished with the impression that he didn't see it. He said if he did it would be a completely new condition and they would name it after her, she seemed to like this idea.
I think it's the mother too.

National Geographic website (just googled it as am off to bed but curious!) reports the US doctor's hunch as Munchausens either the girl herself, her mother or the two in collusion.

There's a Q & A with him on the site

oops one handed slow typing by me sorry almostreal!

Mumof · 12/01/2010 23:33

watched it

straaaaaaaaaange one

felt the girl was bound to silence somehow by the mother did anyone else feel that?

DuelingFanjo · 12/01/2010 23:35

I missed the begingin. How many years have they been claiming it has been happening?

DuelingFanjo · 12/01/2010 23:36

oh, bizzarely just seen on +1 that it's only 2 years.

How old is the girl?

almostreal · 12/01/2010 23:45

Mumof i got that impression too, she was very confident and lively but the minute doctors were around she became very quite and imo fearful.

Mumof · 13/01/2010 09:15

yes
beautiful girl too, stunning

I think the mother was involved but WHERE could all that blood come from

strange one

almostreal · 13/01/2010 19:56

Well one thing I wondered about was did they examine her whole body? Maybe she is cutting herself somewhere and using that especially if she is taking Aspirin that would make her blood thin, the blood did look very thin.

Mumof · 13/01/2010 23:31

good point

didnt seem to be coming from her eyes seemed to be under her eyes thickly eh?

How often did the bleeding occur? If it was regular then wouldn't the solution be to have big brother style camera on them in order to establish if the bleeding is ocurring by itself or whether it is self inflicted - I found the ending a bit up in the air.
