I was just watching empty houses on BBC1 and thought I recognised the couple on there, I googled and the guy has been on loads of stuff, he's an actor but also has appeared on a place in the sun & coach trip. I thought these shows featured 'real' people not actors - especially BBC shows. Maybe I'm just naive!

Haha, how random.

I suppose they advertise for people to come on their shows and get a mixture of "normal" people and people who want to be spotted, or people who just want 5 minutes of fame.

I watched that this morning as well BTW and thought it was rubbish - they didn't even decide on a house, I thought it would show what it was like when they'd redone it. Bring back Homes Under the Hammer!

Their baby was cute though

cocolepew · 11/01/2010 17:42

"34" waist" yeah right.

BertieBotts · 11/01/2010 17:44

He is 44 and she is 26, apparently. But there is an article on her profile page "Viagra saved our marriage!" which has their ages as him at 42 and her at 28...

Rindercella · 11/01/2010 17:47

That site is really funny...and those photos are cringeworthy!

But to answer your question, I think it's just to get wannabes' faces on the telly. There's a boyband member DH used to manage in a non-league football team. Before he became a boyband member DH suddenly started seeing this chap on the telly all of the time...he'd just turn up on random programmes like Kilroy (twas a while ago) asking random questions. So, I reckon it's just their agents trying to get them any work to show their faces on the telly.

SparrowFflamau · 11/01/2010 18:27

SparrowFflamau · 11/01/2010 18:30

MistleSnail · 11/01/2010 18:31

Yes and that awful married couple on BB a couple of years ago that had "been on the Ant and Dec" as he apparently looked like someone from friends...

Tragic really....

TheWhiteStuff · 11/01/2010 18:33

bubblerock - i have not personalloy seen him in anything but he looks a complete knob from what he has written about himself. Honestly , talk about big yourself up!

will be on the lookout for him now.

bubblerock · 11/01/2010 19:22

LOL - they will have all these extra profile views to enlarge their egos further!! Can't help but think of Barney Rubble when I see that bloke though.

I didn't see this but I think I recognise him from Coach trip though. Was his Wife black with really blonde hair/wig? If I am thinking of the right couple then they were really foul mouthed and horrible weren't they? Everyone was chuffed to see the back of them!

Well...when I was a student I was on Going For Gold..(it was a laugh...really)..

However then the production company about 18 months later phoned me up to be on something else that they were just about to start a enw series of....because it was a brand new series (another gameshow/quiz show) they didn't have any applicants, so they trawled through their lists of previous contestants and phoned up a few that they thought would be suitable for their new show.

So out of 1 show I ended up on 2. I then moved away from that address and phone number so who knows, there might have been more.

Thats certainly how many people on quiz shows do multiple ones.....its a heck of a lot cheaper for TV companies to find contestants by using old contestants that by doing more auditions - my audition for Going For Gold was held in a big function suite at a very big/nice hotel in Glasgow, with about 100 people there needing their photos taken, and they forms filled in and their quizzes corrected - must have taken a lot of planning etc and a lot of money for the TV company to do that in loads of locations.

Sad case that I am, I remember a pneumatic-looking woman on Come Dine With Me who was billed as a power-boating champion or something - she lived in a small (very small) flat and scandalised one of her posh guests by having a hubble-bubble pipe with her Middle Eastern meal.

A few years later she reappeared on a Sarah Beeney prog as the 'partner' of some guy who appeared to be loaded, and they were blowing about £1m on some crazy development. I think leopardskin featured heavily in her 'design ideas' and the whole thing went off the rails fairly disastrously, I think. I remember thinking she was clearly hell-bent on getting on TV one way or another....
