following 7 obese children ( for 10 years - catching up with them every 2 years to discover what it's like to grow up as an obese child in Britain today.

to me very over weight children is a form of neglect and abuse

unfortunally too many parents dont know/havent been show how to cook healthy food and just rely on chips/pizza/nuggets etc (which are fine in moderation) but also need fresh fruit, veg and healthy meals in their diet

child at weight watchers wrong

satc2bringiton · 04/01/2010 21:18

@ the 10y/o being 17stone, but also that he is 6ft tall.

Poor kid, and having to wear sports clothes to school - talk about making him stand out.

Scowl · 04/01/2010 21:28

wow that is some salt!

satc2bringiton · 04/01/2010 21:31

It is terribly sad that some children are so dangerously overweight. However, being an ex-TV bod I do get a bit about shows like this. There was a funny sketch on Mitchell & Webb the other night about it: "The Boy With An Arse For A Face"

SpeedyGonzalez · 04/01/2010 21:36

another one!

I love Mitchell & Webb!

Feelingoptimistic · 04/01/2010 21:43

I am watching this too, and it's very sad. I know this is TV, and obviously heavily edited, but looking at the diet of these familities, it's very obvious why the children have weight problems.

Scowl - I was thinking the same thing about the salt !! That amount of salt probably lasts me a year...

Scowl · 04/01/2010 21:52

it is obvious you are right
i also thing all the children seem 'old' for their years

spookycharlotte121 · 04/01/2010 23:42

I think the 6fts tall boys mum seems lovely. she is obviously very concerned and trying to do the right thing. I genuinly felt for her.

the little asian girl having left overs for breakfast though..... come on. It doesnt take a bloody genious to work out thats not good for you.

spookycharlotte121 · 04/01/2010 23:51

OMG all that salt for one meal!!! thats crazy! and all that oil too..... errrgghhh i feel sick!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2010 15:04

how much salt

i did feel sorry for the children, but least mum who was taking her dd to ww was tring to do something and little girl had lost 7lbs

asian girl having leftover noodles for breakfast - wtf

17stone @10yrs - poor boy

looking forward to next weeks episode of younger children

with all 3 familys the parents were either overweight or def chubby, so i blame the parents giving the children whatever food they did

so easy to blame the parents but did you see laurens siblings are thin. this weeks show you will see me in it with my daughter yes im very overweight but my sons are so skinny we all live together so why is this. i have three children three boys all tall and thin and two girls you will see in the doc who are both overweight. i have joined slimming world and take my youngest daughter along with me to get weighed now im not sure im doing the right thing there as i dont want my issues with weight to be hers but im not taking her to loose weight just to grow into her weight which i feel is best thing to do right now i wish i had a magic wand to make all the weight go for her but i dont so i have to do what i think is best. i since doing the documentary wonder if it was the right thing to do as when we signed up we did not realise it was for ten years but now i think that is a possertive as i know in my heart i will do everything to help my daughter become healthy before its too late to deal with other issues that being overweight causes health wise. i really hope when you watch the next show tomorrow you dont judge us badly.
