gaelicsheep · 02/01/2010 00:32

This was the TV version wasn't it? I hate it. Not a patch on the original.

Alambil · 02/01/2010 01:06

it was totally different... I left the room before it ruined the legendary "daddy.... my daddy"

wintera · 02/01/2010 17:28

I didn't watch it but I remember listening to Mark Kermode on Five Live once and there was a discussion about what films make MEN cry. I seem to remember that there was quite a lot of emails saying the "Daddy . . . my Daddy!" scene from the original film was the one that got most men blubbing. I thought that was really endearing!

i started to watch it then dp started going on about how it was so middle class and it put me off.

do like the original one better though

saltyseadog · 03/01/2010 20:19

Agree the original one is better - but I still love it.

'daddy my daddy'

I will never forget the effect that had on me as a little girl, I was about 7/8 when i saw it. my daddy worked overseas ALOT, and I only ever saw him leave at the railway station, or return to the railway station.

(sniff)

I just remember being so so amazed at this girl in a film shouting that out. i don't think my actual dad will ever realise how much I loved/love him
