tis cleverly written. There is something about ALL families in there.

pointydogg · 04/12/2009 22:08

agree. I think there are things that lots of families recognise.

the worst/best ones are when denise goes into labour - the scene in the bathroom with Jim (sniff) - and when nana died. oh god, don't get me started....

chegirlwithbellson · 04/12/2009 22:29

Oh that one when she was in labour My dad has just died and he was the total spit of Jim

I bawled.

Portofino · 04/12/2009 23:14

I loved the one where nanna died, and Jim after professing to hate her all those years, was the one who enjoyed her so much and was the most upset when she died. I cried buckets.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 05/12/2009 00:12

oh glad i'm not the only one
the scene with jim and denise in early labour absolutely choked chokes me
and the passing over of nanna...

CitizenPrecious · 05/12/2009 00:14

I couldn't bear to watch the Nanna one- remember the bathroom one made me weep hot fat tears like an abandoned puppy on Christmas eve in a church porch.

...in the snow

We love the Royle family in this house,it reminds me so much of my own family growing up.

Are they making a Christmas special does anyone know?

shabbapinkfrog · 05/12/2009 08:22

The Nana dying one makes me sob and I have watched it at least a dozen times. The scene where Sheila is doing Nana's hair and they are singing together reduced me to a snivelling snotty pool of tears.

I rang my parents after I watched it the first time....had to tell them I loved them!!! My Mum was sobbing because Nana reminds her of her own Mum.

Im from Lancashire and the Royal family could be written about my lot

shabbapinkfrog · 05/12/2009 08:30

Have no idea why I called Barbara - Sheila

Lulumama · 05/12/2009 08:39

yes, denise in labour and nana dying had me and DH absolutely in floods

the funniest bits are too many to count!!

the episode where they go to denise's for xmas lunch and she;s made blue tropical punch witha whole banana floating in it !

when nana offers Antneee's vegetarian girlfriend wafer thin ham

everything Twiggy says !

i love it

RockBird · 05/12/2009 08:47

It was the labour one last night. Jim and Denise in the bathroom . And the wedding episode where the two of them are on their own waiting for the car. She starts her speech saying something like 'you know how I'm always dead rotten to you and never say anything nice...'. That makes me howl.

we knew who you meant shabba!
i also love the episode where jim and twiggy are decorating
that was genius

Nancy66 · 06/12/2009 11:28

One of the most moving scenes for me was when Anthony says he's going to London and Jim takes the piss out of him as usual - Denise then steps in and tells him not to be so horrible so Jim then tells Anthony he's a good lad and he'll look after him.

Barabara and Anthony both look so happy that Jim has finally said something loving.
