Hey VeronicaMars! Can I just say how much I'm enjoying your series

(Disclaimer: I know that the Veronica Mars on tv is not a real person, and that VeronicaMars on here is almost certainly not a cute teen who excels at PI work. I am simply, of my own free will, choosing to delude myself.)

This series is fab, I don't know how I missed it the first time around. I happened to catch the first episode on E4 a few weeks ago when DD was having a nap and I've been recording it every day since.

Can I ask you a few questions? Were Lilly and Duncan the same age? Is there any reason why she was living with her dad and step-mum rather than with her own mother?

How did Meg go from not showing to full-term in about 3 months?

Is it very wrong of me to feel attracted to Logan when he's fighting? Are Logan and Weevil fighting a strong attraction to each other?

Logan is mine, I am afraid, I have had rude dreams about him

I too have only just got into VeronicaMars, it is fab, love it.

Not sure about the Lily and Duncan thing.....I may google.

Lizzylou · 30/11/2009 09:39

Wiki says that Duncan and Lilly are full siblings and that Lilly was a grade above Veronica and Duncan........

Gosh, am sad, googling teen dramas when I should be working.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 30/11/2009 09:51

Lilly was a year older than Duncan and Veronica. In one series, when Veronica is having visions of Lilly, some of them are when Lilly is away at college and V is still at high school.

Yes, the Meg thing was off. I thought that they bodged around it quite well by keeping her out of the show for a while, we didn't see her for ages, and when we did it was just in Veronica's dreams of her on the bus. The reveal was good though, no?

Veronica Mars is one of my favourite shows of all time, I've seen all of them several times

PfftTheMagicDragon · 30/11/2009 09:52

Lilly and Duncan were full siblings, meant to add.

bran · 30/11/2009 09:52

Wiki must have it wrong, surely. I thought Lilly refered to Celeste as her step-mother several times.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the actor who played Logan wasn't actually a teen at the time. I will feel like much less of a dirty old woman if he was actually in his mid-20s when playing that role. (I've off to IMDB to check his date of birth.)

Lilly didn't really like Celeste, I'm pretty sure she referred to her as the "step-monster" as well actually, but there's nothing to indicate she wasn't her mother. But then, we never actually find out that much about Lilly.

Jason Dohring - 1982 I think, so no, never a teenager

PfftTheMagicDragon · 30/11/2009 10:02

I miss VM, was gutted when it got cancelled. Series 3 was not great, but the end was fantastic and I would have loved to see Veronica in the FBI.

bran · 30/11/2009 21:28

I really like Jason Dohring as an actor, I think the swings in personality that he has to pull off are really tricky. I completely believed that he was a shallow, stupid twit at the start, and have pretty much believed every twist in his character ever since too. I'm glad that I wasn't fancying a child, but he's still far too young for me (I'll give myself a stern talking too as soon as I've watched the very last episode).

I'm increasingly finding Weevil unconvincing as the leader of a lawless bike gang, although perhaps the bike gang are feeling the same and that's why he's not able to control them properly.

I'm off to watch Friday's episode now (I'm running a bit behind), I wonder if Lucy Lawless will be in it again. I swear that woman has got younger, the bitch!

I had a very pressing question to ask about the whole bus thing, but I've forgotten it now.

That's a "talking to" not a "talking too", please don't set the pedants on me, I'm trying hard to be one of them.

I have a question, who does the deputy that Veronica dated remind me of? I don't think I've actually seen him in anything before, but his voice is very familiar. Christian Slater maybe, only sexier?

lOGAN IS ABSOLUTELY YUMMY

PfftTheMagicDragon · 01/12/2009 09:05

Deeputy Leo is a bit Christian Slater actuaaly, but a bit cleaner. He played an assistant on Ugly Betty I think. That's the thing with VM, every time I watch something I say "they were on Veronica Mars" because EVERYONE has been on it.

Weevil does become unbelievable with the PCHers and that becomes more evident and comes to a head later on.

I am secure in my Logan love as JD is only 2 years younger than me. I find him quite believable, unlike the plank-a-like Duncan.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 01/12/2009 09:06

Good god, LOOK at that spelling - one handed, honest

LoveTheCarbs · 01/12/2009 09:17

Veronica Mars is also one of my favourite shows. I watched it all on DVD a couple of years ago and was over the moon when I went on maternity leave and got to watch it all over again!

I also love Logan. Glad to hear he was born in 1982 - no cradle snatching! I thought Duncan was such a bore the first time I watched it, but this time round could understand why Veronica chose him initially. Yes, I know it's not real, but this show gets me really involved.. I probably need to get a life and to go back to work!

PfftTheMagicDragon · 01/12/2009 09:53

I could see why she went back to him - the unfinished story between them, the way he just left it and she felt like there was still something there, they had history.

I just think he was a rubbish character and a terrible actor.

LoveTheCarbs · 02/12/2009 13:54

Yes, you're right, very wooden. Especially compared to all the others actors in it.

Anyone seen JD in anything else?

bran · 03/12/2009 12:57

Duncan is dire isn't he? I wonder if he was supposed to be quite wooden and emotionally stunted? The rest of the casting is just so perfect that I wonder how they could have made a mistake like that with such a central character. I can see why they were a good couple before Lilly was killed, but obviously not very well suited at the time they got back together. Perhaps he was scripted as being a bit dull to underline how much VM had changed over the years that they were apart.

Pfft, JD is a full 15 years younger than me so I am a proper dirty old lady. I wonder if he's very charismatic in real life, he's not particularly good looking, all his attactiveness is in his acting ability.

I'm really enjoying the other PI character (Vinnie?), he's so incredibly annoying and amoral.

OP posts:
PfftTheMagicDragon · 13/12/2009 18:21

bran that's true. When I see pictures of him, he looks rather doughy and dull. It's all Logan

Apparently, JD originally auditioned for the role of Duncan and got turned down for Teddy Dunn Maybe he was dull on purpose, though saying that, with all the post baby stuff with Meg he gets a little better, once he and Veronica are over for good. I was so relieved once he was gone though.

[pouts] I want more Veronica!

Tortington · 13/12/2009 18:23
