twin peaks - worth revisiting?

I loved Twin Peaks when it was on TV back in my student days, DH also loved it (we didn't know each other then). Am wondering whether to get the DVD box sets - will we enjoy it just as much as we did then, or is it the kind of thing that is best left with memories of student days - i.e. fab at the time and wouldn't change them for anything, but wouldn't necessarily want to go back now.

We don't get out much since having the DCs and TV is pretty crap most of the time (if only spooks was on every night...) so am looking for something to get our teeth into, bar spooks and gavin&stacey reruns!)Has anybody got the box sets and really enjoyed rewatching them? TIA.

yes...they are fab and just as scary - although Kyle whatever his name is still as yummy

I often wonder if I should watch this again or if i'd be as scared as I was first time round!

Initially it was great but it went on and on and lost its way, so I stopped watching. Bit like Lost really. Should have ended it sooner.

have just checked on amazon (forgot about the reviews there!) and the first series is available but the 2nd series much more expensive and not availiable through amazon, so maybe I'll start with the first and see how we go... - was thinking of getting them for our anniversary, but giving DH a bag of doughnuts and some coffee, see if he can work it out. (who said romance was dead eh?!!)...off to ebay I go next.

I used to love twin peaks, definately worth a revisit imo! might buy the box set myself

I rewatched this last year and found it very gripping all over again - very original TV - funny, scary, strange!

It does lose its way a bit mid-way through series two (picks up again by the very end) so your idea of getting series 1 to start with is probably best.

Have you seen Lost, since you are looking for something to 'get your teeth into'? I think it is quite Twin-Peaky in its way, yet more mainstream/less strange IYSWIM. Unparalleled as a mystery/action adventure with lots of great characters, and very exciting.

thanks apples - TBH, we did start watching LOST and really got hooked then felt it had lost the plot towards the end of series 2, so never picked it up again - is it still going???

Wouldn't you worry that you'll get really into it, only to be left screaming when it breaks off at the cliffhanger ending of Season Two, never to be resumed? I've been dithering about getting this for a while, just for that reason. It was brill, though, wasn't it?

ApplesinmyPocket · 22/11/2009 21:39

Lost has had 5 seasons now! And yes, it picked up again after a bit of a dip - last season was gripping. Final season coming up soon...

Yes, did feel Twin Peaks ended on a cliffhanger... wish they had tied up a few more loose ends - all went very strange didn't it in that final episode? Was never quite sure I really understood it!

thaliablogs · 23/11/2009 21:49

I couldn't watch it again, Bob scared the living daylights out of me, even thinking about his face is enough to give me the heebie-jeebies.

katechristie · 25/11/2009 13:54

yes mamag i can't quite remember it all TBH, but I did have a feeling there was something weird about the ending...we did find out who killed LP tho didn't we? (I think I know who it is, but I may be wrong)

[gasp] 5 seasons of lost...are they still there???

Oh my God, yes, Bob climbing over the sofa! Remember watching it at best friend's house, think we were at college, so 17 or 18 and being too afraid to walk home so had to stay the night at hers!

ApplesinmyPocket · 26/11/2009 09:34

"are they still there" - well some at least have been off (the Lost island) but have come back.. not to give too much away - it's complicated. Jack is still annoying, Ben is still deliciously bad (or is he good?) - anyway it's still keeping me on the edge of my seat.

Back to TP - yes we do find out who killed LP - one of the most chilling episodes of all ... making me want to go and watch it again now!

"She's day-ed and wrapped in plastic"... ooh, creepy. Still haven't got over the first time around - I'm another Bob-a-phobe. Yikes.
