Minko, I am sure they lived happily ever after. Hortense has shown she is willing to compromise by her reaction when they go to see the new house, and Gilbert is kind and only wants to make her happy.
The scene where he cheers her up about walking into the cupboard is so touching .

I loved it but, it begged for a sequel!! were anymore written? Did Hortense ever find out Michael was the daddy? did the other couple ever have a family? Did the book go into these details more?
