WHO is Charley Boorman?

Have never heard of him. Is he just Ewan McGregor's mate?

His programme on BBC2 atm is utter drivel (and he is visiting some fascinating places, should be very interesting really)

HAs sent DP to sleep

crankytwanky · 01/11/2009 22:41

I just cannot bear him, Fucker.

shelleylou · 01/11/2009 22:57

hes an actor aswell but more well known for his bike adventures. I quite like charley find him quite down to earth. My bro met him once and said he was really nice. I am quite biased though as he fullfilled quite a strange request i sent him

bruxeur · 01/11/2009 23:09

"please act like a knobhead every time anyone points a camera at you"?

OllieWollieWoo · 02/11/2009 07:50

Look at him a good few years back in a truely awful film called The Emerald Forest:
here

Its that Director guy that does my head in - Russ is it? Whittles on like an old woman!

Bambinoloveseggbirds · 02/11/2009 09:05

He makes me want to vom.

Prunerz · 02/11/2009 09:28

lol at that clip
His dad directed it of course but I am sure he got the gig on merit.
I have met him actually (at his dad's house) and he is, really, a bit of a twat.

canihaveapeeinpeacepleasebob · 02/11/2009 09:34

he's an actor lovely, but not a very good or successful one!

wintera · 02/11/2009 20:24

OllieWollieWoo - I think you mean Ken Russell but he didn't direct The Emerald Forest though. John Boorman (Charlie's Dad) directed it.

Doodleydoo · 02/11/2009 20:56

You think he's bad, what about the idiot producer in the long way round - usually seen with Charley Boorman and Ewan - but is a complete tosser too!

Doodleydoo · 02/11/2009 21:01

Sorry Ollie - saw your post after I wrote mine, glad I am not the only one to think Russ is a twat.

wintera · 02/11/2009 21:47

OllieWollieWoo - Sorry I got the complete wrong end of the stick! You are talking about the Guy from the other progs aren't you? Sorry!

displayuntilbestbefore · 02/11/2009 21:52

shelleylou what was your strange request? (I rather like Charley Boorman!)

shelleylou · 02/11/2009 21:58

it really is rather odd!!!

I asked him if he would sign a photo for my brother who was killed recently in an RTA to go in his coffin

displayuntilbestbefore · 02/11/2009 22:08

nice that he signed one for you. Despite the Boorman bashing I always think he seems a decent bloke tbh!

shelleylou · 02/11/2009 22:14

ment even more that he did it to my bro and wasnt just RIP was more personal. I thought it was lovely. My db would love it

wintera · 03/11/2009 12:12

Surely poor Charlie isn't that bad? He seems to be getting a heavy bashing on here. Not that I am a massive fan or anything, just a bit confused as to what he has done to wind people up so much. He's done a lot of good things for charities like Unicef. Plus some of you are talking like his Dad was a super successful director too. John Boorman is hardly Steven Spielberg!

displayuntilbestbefore · 03/11/2009 12:21

I agree - he does all the road trips for charity and to highlight the situations in countries less fortunate than our own and I think there's just a backlash against someone who seems to be enjoying life and has had some success but I can't quite work out why he's therefore someone to be despised! I've always thought he seemed pretty goodnatured and easy going!

AnyFucker · 03/11/2009 12:33

like I said, I would do him...

displayuntilbestbefore · 03/11/2009 12:49

ditto

AnyFucker · 03/11/2009 14:57

no sloppy seconds though...

notnowbernard · 03/11/2009 22:51

He's not offensive in any way, just v boring (IMO)

I struggle to work out how these sorts of programmes get commisionned

I mean, it's on at 9pm on BBC2. He's visiting some spectacular places which are culturally and environmentally massively different to our own... should make for interesting viewing, at least. Instead it's watching him piss about on a motorbike (again)

I feel a bit like this about James May as well. He's on every bloody channel you flick to these days wittering on about very dull boys things
