Oh dear. From 0-8cm in, what, 15 minutes? Bucket of water dropped from the skirt area then immediate contractions so painful she couldn't stand. Have they no responsibility for educating the great British public?

On the other hand, I suppose a three day episode isn't really likely.

Did she? I must have missed that bit

I didn't have a gush of waters breaking with my first although did with second child luckily I was already sat on the toilet.
Both my labours were quick 1st was 4.5 hours 2nd was 3hrs 15 minutes.

but can't they just have an actress go off to the hospital, then over the next episode or two, have some friends getting texts from her, then the baby being born?
it would actually build the anticipation a bit & be more realistic.

well done evva for a consummate performance of birth giving, thought it was the best I've seen on tv. I sat there re-living mine!

with dd (my first and only) my waters broke with a trickle at 2pm, I had my first contraction at 3pm in the hospital waiting room, and I was holding her at 5.31pm. Yes, all on the same day! I was well up for the drugs but it was so quick I didn't even have time to locate the gasandair.

but no one can top madmadammim having dc in trousers !!

Just as a flip side to all the 'isn't it great she's bf' comments (and don't get me wrong, it is great), had I seen that around the time I was struggling and not succeeding to bf dd, I would have been gutted because she was sitting there easy as you like, no hassle. This was supposed to be what, hours, after the birth. I obviously should have called EE when I was having problems.
