A woman who isn't hyper stupid like big cook Ben and a cookery programme with actual recipes, not play-with-your-food crap that puts boiled eggs and raisins together. I heartily approve.

I agree she seems really nice and my dc's are enjoying it so far

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 06/10/2009 14:40

When's it on? Which channel?

Divvy · 06/10/2009 14:42

I thinks its naff!

Muffins with carrot and courgette in!

reikizen · 06/10/2009 14:46

I had to smile at the courgette and carrot muffins. I am sure someone somewhere would eat them but not my two! It is all a bit worthy though isn't it? With the allotment and all. I know what they are trying to do but they are trying very very hard. Agree the presenter is really appealing though.

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 06/10/2009 14:49

And that children can actually make as well, by whoing you that they can do it, as opposed ot 'get a grown up helper to do most of it and you lose interest and wander off'

Meglet · 06/10/2009 14:50

My friend made carrot and courgette muffins a few months ago and they were really nice, IIRC all the kids scoffed them. TBH the veg is pretty well hidden, you'd only notice the sultana's. I've got the recipe and been meaning to do them too.

bronze · 06/10/2009 14:52

I make root veg muffins all the time. Theyre lovely

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/10/2009 14:53

i love the fact that the kids can make it! My dd is desperate to make the magic fishcakes now

Was wondering tho (and this might be a really stupid question) what's the grater thingy they use called? I'd really like one for dd since I don't trust her with a proper peeler....I looked on the John Lewis site and Lakeland and can't find anything like it. Any tips please?

bumpybecky · 06/10/2009 14:58

like the idea but a bit about the singing!

try mouli grater

Marioandluigi · 06/10/2009 15:03

I like it the presenter seems jolly but not silly.

My nana makes Courgette cake and its lovely

Cometrickortreatingwithme · 06/10/2009 15:05

I said to DP when we first watched it with dd
"I bet big and small are a bit ." [.

NellieTheEllie · 06/10/2009 15:08

I liked it on the whole.
But, have they dubbed the children laughing every time the presenter says anything? It is very irritating.

BethAndHerBrood · 06/10/2009 15:24

Quite like the cooking bit, but the singing - WTF is that about?

But it's a HUGE improvement on Ben and that ginger twat small one.

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 06/10/2009 15:29

Muffins? I missed that one, this morning it was tuna ball fishcake things.

KayHarkerIsKayHarker · 06/10/2009 15:33

lol @ Ben and the Ginger Twat.

It's on Cbeebies in the morning and at 1pm. It's like what they were perhaps aiming for with 'Big Cook, Little Cook', only, you know, good.

My lot love root veg cakes of all shapes and sizes. The singing is mildly silly, but I'll take mildly silly over trying-too-hard painfully embarrassing any day.

What with Show me Show me, I'm the kids are enjoying cbeebies quite a bit now. Shame about Gigglebiz, but you can't win 'em all.

BethAndHerBrood · 06/10/2009 15:34

Muffins were on yesterday.

I thought of MN while it was on, I knew there'd be a thread sooner or later!

KayHarkerIsKayHarker · 06/10/2009 15:36

They also make sensible portions. Not like the BCLC episodes where they served 7 large custard apple pies to poor Snow White.

BethAndHerBrood · 06/10/2009 15:37

Now, you see, Show Me, Show Me, I don't particularly like, but can tolerate DS2 watching. Gigglebiz, OTOH, gets switched straight off. And Waybaloooo. And Boogie Beebies.

BethAndHerBrood · 06/10/2009 15:39

ROFL @ "poor Snow White"

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 06/10/2009 15:44

I hate the meals they dish up, like Miss muffett wants a spider on a plate, its always really innapropriate or faintly cannabalistic

KayHarkerIsKayHarker · 06/10/2009 15:45

Of course it's real. It's the telly. Like, right now, that daft bint Aunty Mabel is flying to a wheat field while her boiled egg breakfast goes cold. They're all mad on telly you know.

BethAndHerBrood · 06/10/2009 15:47

I'm watching the Nolan Sisters on Alan Titchmarsh!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 06/10/2009 18:11

oo thanks bumpybecky mouli grater was exactly what I was trying to say

we dd really likes show me show me and gigglebiz. Personal favourites (hers not mine, obv) are Dina Lady and Farmer Dung. It's the aaaaaaccent, see? Local! Plus Farmer Dung is exactly like my Grampy.

kayharker Auntie Mabel drives dh batty flying around the place - in this economy! tut Have pointed out it's aimed at the under 5's and is 15 years old but he STILL has to have a go.

KayHarkerIsKayHarker · 06/10/2009 18:35

Farmer Dung is mildly amusing, I'll give you that. Milkshake Jake leaves me cold, though. And Gail Force is toe-curling. Justin does Peter Kay as Geraldine. Yikes.

DS says that the pirate (can't remember his name) is funny but the rest of it isn't.
