FGS, complete idiots not strapping children in to car seats, kids rattling around in the back of a van. £60 fine .

I am frightened about the way that bloke just pulled out in front of that van!

He was frighteningly clueless.

In both cases (kids rattling in back of van, man pulling out in front of lorry) you just know that their behaviour won't change.

They both looked more annoyed than anything - neither seemed to think that their kids' safety should have any influence on how they drive.

It was so so scary. Especially the baby unstrapped in, plonked in a closed van on top of bin bags, on a motorway

The crap car safety is only going to be the tip of the iceberg isn't it. I wonder if SS get sent round to follow it up, I dread to think what their home lives were like.

I'd be a crap policeman, I would have yelled at those people so much their ears would have bled and threw their car keys into the nearest bin. How they keep calm I don't know.

The thing I don't get about these traffic cop type programs is the offenders hardly ever seem to be punished. They either have the case thrown out or get a £60 fine for death by dangerous driving or 3 points on a license they don't even have why don't they show us cases that get punished more severely ? Should be a bit more of a deterrent IMO!

the law dictates what can be done with idiots and honest law biding citizens alike. the police can use discretion, but the courts have the ultimate and final say so. am i wasting my breath? for certain offences the choices are a ticket and 3 penalty points or a court summons. if it goes to court its out of police hands and up to the courts to dictate the punishment. police have limited powers at their disposal to deal with traffic offences. they can only operate within the law.
and i didnt watch the programme.

I don't think he could understand much English.

I bet if the cops had asked him to tell them how he should join the motorway he would have stared at them blankly cos he just didn't understand them.

Not that it justified is behaviour in regards to car seats of course.

pickyvic - wasting your breath on who? I didn't say I blamed the police for anything....in any case, you didn't watch the program so you can't know what offences occurred or what punishments could have been dealt out
