Anyone watching? This is a 'did they like my design' revisit so may be interesting. I wonder if they will go back to last week's £177,000 one in this series?

Just me on my own then.

I reckon the budget is more than enough to do a ground floor extension and loft conversion.

Bifold doors again, that's £8000 easy.

Not a loft conversion, just doing away with loft storage. How can he be spending the bulk of £50,000 downstairs?

I'm watching. I missed last week but I love this programme! Sounds like I missed a good 'un... darn it.

tissuesandissues · 06/08/2009 20:29

You know he has shares in the "feature every week, every house HAS to have bifold doors" company

MumtoCharlieandLola · 06/08/2009 20:30

Arrrrrgh, have been missing it, are bifold doors really 8,000 we want some in our new extension !!

MollieO · 06/08/2009 20:36

Usually, you can get them cheaper but I reckon £6,000 minimum. Can't see the point in putting them in a property of this value. Also the bespoke glass roof bit will be stonkingly expensive.

If they got a normal architect they could have done both proper loft conversion and downstairs extension for their budget plus kitchen, utility room, storage.

Roof shape is more expensive than usual roof too.

Why also are they working to such a tight time frame? That pushes costs up too.

The thought of giving that money to George makes me feel sick.

MollieO · 06/08/2009 20:41

Money wasted on frippery that won't add value.

Prep area in the utility room - wtf?

OP posts:
MollieO · 06/08/2009 20:44

No other window in the kitchen so they have to open the door for a bit of ventilation?

TinyPawz · 06/08/2009 20:49

MollieO, why does the thought of giving George make you sick?

MollieO · 06/08/2009 20:55

I don't trust him to make the best use of my money. The fact that he has designed something that hasn't been signed off by building regs sums him up really.

If he hadn't spent the money on automatic blinds and plasma tv they could have had a new bedroom.

OP posts:
TinyPawz · 06/08/2009 22:00

I suppose that is true, however on occasion the programme pay for the finishings when the budget has been blown

noddyholder · 06/08/2009 22:04

Awful design imo.Completely fashiony and didn;t give enough space for the money.terrible furniture and the kitchen was too small for a breakfast bar and a table and chairs. Why didn;t they put the 2 girls in together and use room 3 for something else?

saggyhairyarse · 06/08/2009 22:29

I think their money could have been better spent:

Kitchen extension and knock through £20K
Basic loft conversion £20
Bathroom £5K
£5K for bedrooms etc.

I wouldn't want all the wanky shite over a loft conversion. I think he is obsessed with Bi-fold doors and RSJs!
