I'm not often made to feel ill by TV, but... UGH! The slime was disgusting. And then he actually gutted the things!

Now I'm all for organic, home grown food, but this just about crosses the line for me.

Just had to vent... as you were

fecking Hugh Fernley-Wittingloon.

bohemianbint · 17/06/2009 20:59

I seem to have accidentally done the same this evening. (Found a thoroughly poached one in the dishwasher.) Dirty little feckers.

8oreighty · 17/06/2009 20:59

I nearly puked! ew.

a friend of a friend finally got round to opening her kettle lid and giving it a wash to get the limescale out and found a very worn and washed away huge slug, obviously been in her kettle for weeks -- imagine unkowningly drinking slug tea...I open mine every morning and check now.

bohemianbint · 17/06/2009 21:03

god that is minging. I drank a glass of chocolate milk once and something knocked against my lip. Turned out there was a fairly decent sized spider in the cup. I dunno if it was dead in the cup before the milk went in, or if it fell in at some point, or what...(not slug-related but equally grim!)

8oreighty · 17/06/2009 21:05

ewwwwwwwwwwwww...I could not cope with that one at all...terrifying.

wisterialane · 17/06/2009 21:49

It was particularly vomit-worthy.

when he boiled them to get rid of the slime, oh yuck and he had to pull it all off, it was like glue. then to make matters worse we find out it tastes bitter, soo hmmm lets gut them, oh it was horrible all that brown stuff being scrapped out, yeah i'm gagging now

Meglet · 18/06/2009 21:54

Even he admitted they weren't very nice though.

My garden slugs are dying a boozy death in the beer traps, then they go on the compost heap.

cookielove · 18/06/2009 21:57

but he also liked eating snails, which is something i never tried to be honest. but when he said how their body curled up inside the shell and you could see it, that made me feel horrible

ilovesprouts · 18/06/2009 21:59
