Her voice always gets me! And of course her story is so sad it's a double whammy every time...

So AIBU? (hint - the answer is NO)

And if you're feeling in the mood to share, whose voice/which band always makes you well up?

daftpunk · 25/05/2009 19:33

watching her story on bbc2 now...she was the best female singer ever.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 25/05/2009 19:36

Oh gosh.

I have to keep saying to DH "these are happy tears, honestly" as he is looking so worried!

Freddie's later songs do it for me as well, so poignant...

ROFL through the tears at all the MNers sitting at home watching this in tears [sob]

BigBellasBeerBelly · 25/05/2009 19:40

There is a film isn't there - I saw it when I was quite young - and then my mum gave me a talk about how she had all the talent and all the men surrounding her controlled her and egged her on to make money from her etc and failed to notice what was going on. And maybe didn't care.

I don't know how true that was

Yanbu.

I have Carpenters in the car atm. I do my very best in-car karaoke along with Karen.

I saw a fantastic modern ballet once that featured the Goodbye To Love guitar solo. Young punkish ballerina in traditional tu tu did magnificent series of pirouettes across the stage - Michael Clark's company, it was -have never forgotten it.

I just love it all. Can't watch programme because dc still up .

wheelsonthebus · 25/05/2009 20:18

her brother worries me; but she is fab

WhiteFish · 25/05/2009 20:57

right poo i missed it

when can i see it

MaggieTulliver · 25/05/2009 21:31

I have sky+'ed this programme. Remember watching a documentary about them when I was about 15 and it really moved me.

Hassled · 25/05/2009 21:33

I heard Close To You today and thought about her - such a wonderful singer.

EightiesChick · 25/05/2009 22:32

Yes, love KC. The Carpenters' stuff is so dark though. It sounds all jolly in terms of the tune, but when you take in the lyrics...I have been known to put it on when I want a good cry.

Eva Cassidy doing Over the Rainbow also sets me off without fail.

bruffin · 26/05/2009 09:53

Get's me as well. Her voice was so pure and beautiful.

Docbunches · 26/05/2009 15:15

Both Karen Carpenter and Eva Cassidy always make me well up, no matter what song they sing. I particularly love Close to You, which DP and I always used to sing to DS when he was a baby, for some unknown reason!

Two women with the purest and most beautiful singing voices EVER.

WhiteFish · 27/05/2009 10:50
