...from a distinctly underwhelming performance. This is the voting breakdown - Nick Hell nearly beat Diversity.

76.9% Susan Boyle
7.5% Natalie Okri
4.8% Diversity
4.5% Nick Hell
3.6% Face of Disco
1.5% Darth Jackson
0.9% Sue Son
0.3% Julia Naidenko

TwoIfBBySea - hope that's not right (though not accusing you of making it up). I felt very uncomfortable when she went the wrong way and made those odd jokey comments. She certainly seems a little awkward, hope she won't be exploited.

TwoIfBySea · 25/05/2009 23:52

Sadly it is true slummy, which is why I am not watching this. I can't say how or why I know (or they would get in trouble) but I do.

No worries about thinking I'd make it up! People do weird things like that but this is true.

Someone should step in and make sure she is okay.

mayorquimby · 26/05/2009 10:22

"Interesting. She'll walk it, won't she"

no peaked too early. i've watched enough reality tv in my time to know the tempo that each show will have. for things like the x-factor and britains got talent the favurite won't even have their audition shown or have any lime-light put on them because they don't want to over-saturate the market. they wan't a coming of age performance for one of the big live shows.
ditto the apprentice and other edited reality tv shows. get the big personalities and headline grabbers front and centre early on, and edit it so the winners are only bit part players, but solid, until the second half of the series.

Like I said on the other thread, why the hell is this info public (if it's true, and not just made up?)

Knowing that SB has got 77% of the vote at this stage is going to seriously influence people's voting in the Final. Ok, it may all be a fix anyway, but at least keep up some pretence that it's a genuine competition.

inscotland · 26/05/2009 10:44

I don't think SB will win it and I am a fan! I think the final 2 will be diversity and flawless.

MichelleObama · 26/05/2009 12:00

Blimey, MayorQuimby, you have put a worrying amount of thought into your analysis here!
The DD's have just watched the second semi on ITV3 and say the acts were not that great.
They like Diversity.

mayorquimby · 26/05/2009 12:12

haha i don't even watch bgt. i do however watch a lot of the apprentice and my gf watches x-factor etc so i know the formula. whoever you think is going to win it in week 1 will go out mid way in an effort to "shake things up". whoever starts to garner a bit of attention not quite at the finish but about a 2 weeks before the finish is the one to back.

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 26/05/2009 15:05

Feel conflicted on this one. Don't watch the programme so haven't seen the first time she sang but my mum is a fan so watched it with her on Sunday. Wanted her to do well because there have surely been enough good-looking, useless singers who have done well (Lily Allen springs to mind) so why not even things up? She definitely had a shaky start but did improve as the song went on. Not much interpretation in the way she sang the song - she raced through it but then she was obviously nervous and has never had any training. I'm sure this must have happened to other singers on reality competitions. Sadly she does have learning difficulties - she was starved of oxygen at birth and is called Simple Susie by kids in her area. This made me feel quite uncomfortable watching her joke sexy antics at the end. It felt that Ant and Dec were worried about what she might do and were eager to get her offstage. I was glad she got through as it seemed to make her happy but I do worry about the effect of the media's attacks on her and her ability to cope - but then again, I guess she's been coping with similar attacks all her life, maybe now she's at least getting something positive as well. It did feel like her response to Simon's apology "I know nothing" was scripted for her.

mayorquimby · 26/05/2009 15:32

also the backlash has begun already.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 26/05/2009 15:34

no idea who any of these nomarks are

GossipMonger · 26/05/2009 22:48

Nancy - anymore figures from the last 2 nights?

jasper · 26/05/2009 23:43

those figures make no sense.
They show Natalie as getting the second most votes but she did not get through

liahgen · 26/05/2009 23:48

jasper she didn't get through because 2nd place is decided by judges on next 2 top acts, (ithat makes sense)

jasper · 26/05/2009 23:56

duh!
Shows you how much I know!
Thanks for explaining

Nancy66 · 27/05/2009 08:26

No more figures sorry - the figures from the first night seemed to have been 'leaked' (ie ITV knew all about it) and sent to news outlets but then they panicked and changed their minds and haven't done it since...

What a shame as it was very interesting!

Am torn between Diversity and Stavros Flatley atm.........and wondered what the figures were like for them.
