Think I missed something - why is Nick Cotton blackmailing Billy on Eastenders?

I know it's something to do with the boy who lives with him, not sure about the rest (only started watching it a few weeks ago after a few years off) What's the beef?

I haven't watched Eastenders for years but have just turned telly on, and can't believe Nick Cotton is back!

AND when did they get SOFAS in the Vic?!

Nick knows that Billy didn't go in to help Jase and is threatening to tell Jay if Billy doens't give him money.

The sofas in the Vic are all wrong.

God Nick is such a terrible character AND a terrible actor!

Because Billy was there when the wee boys dad got killed and he never helped just hid and watched him get killed by gang of thugs. The little boy doesn't know, he thinks Billy tried to stop them. Nick found out and is threatening to tell the boy.

Clear as mud I'm sure!

It is a story line that is probably going to end with a fire in the 'caf and a big re-exit for Nick ... (or so I have read ...)

It all comes to a head this week I think. Thank goodness. We're having same stories with Nick as we did 10 years ago only this time his daughter is involved. EE seem to be regurgitating (sp) old stories as it would appear we're about to get an old story again but this time with heather's pregnancy.
