CSI post Grissom - WTF has happened to it?

I am devastated - I have tried every week to give it a chance now that Grissom has abandoned us. I have nothing against Laurence Fishburne - he's a fine actor and I like a lot of the stuff he is in - but he is no Gil Grissom (I mean his character of course). CSI was the one of the very few programmes a week that I really loved watching and now it had all gone to crapola. I can't be alone in mourning the changes in CSI can I? The storylines really have gone up the swanney - and the style of the show has gone awry too - anyone see this weeks? WTF?! It was what, the 200th ep of CSI and it was all about MExican wrestling! It should have been about LAS VEGAS!!! Surely! ARGH! I'm getting off the soapbox now!

I haven't seen this weeks yet but totally agree. I would never have been able to wait until days after to watch.

vegas used to be my favourite CSI but now I have to admit that New York is my favourite.. I too morn the loss of Grissom though I was quite happy to get rid of Sarah Sourpuss... Gill should have stayed with Lady Heather she is much better for him than Sarah.. Come back Grissom.. wails pathetically

merryberry · 16/05/2009 14:07

it's gone too ensemble i think, everyone playing in to make up for strong lead having left. which sadly means that larry dearest is not getting a chance to become the new strong leader.

speaking for dh and i, a pair of sad sacks whose firstborn is saddled with the middle name Gil (just so you know, yes, we enjoyed the earlier series...) we didn;t like the wrestling one either. it was all atmosphere and not enough science, stylistic police interviews and not enough office politics.

we will watch the series out i'm sure. but my gawd, they haven't got it together with the writing, you're all right about that.

IStoleSamsPony · 16/05/2009 14:23

They seem to be focussing too much on making Fishburne the Grissom replacement (not in rank, but ykwim), and abandoning the other characters as a result.

MerlinsBeard · 16/05/2009 14:44

I can't watch it now it's just not right with Laurence Fishburn(fishbourne...what is his name?!)

IStoleSamsPony · 16/05/2009 14:57

i went with copying the first spelling on the thread MoM

I am still watching because it feels wrong not to, but my heart isn't in it, and I am not bothered if I miss any.

MerlinsBeard · 16/05/2009 14:59

see it feels wrong to watch it now Grissom has left

glad suicidal left though (first time i heard Sarah Sidle introduce herself i thought she said she was suicidal-the name stuck)

Holymoly321 · 16/05/2009 15:29

THank god I am not alone - for a while I thought I was just going crazy! I too will carry on watching, but there has already been one ep that I gave up on after the first 15 mins (the one where a couple of the guys are held hostage). I want to like it again, I really really do, so hopefully they will sort it out. If not, it will be a sad sad day in my house!

I must admit that I have taken to Riley...though I can't warm to Larry at all... though I normally like him as an actor...

will have to just live by Flack and Mac alone in CSI: NY ...or the sunglasses of doom

IStoleSamsPony · 18/05/2009 17:22

I could never get into NY

MeMySonAndI · 18/05/2009 17:24

What ever happened to dear Grissom?

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 18/05/2009 17:27

I've missed the last couple of episodes and not even noticed.

That's how bad it is.

MeMySonAndI · 18/05/2009 17:38

I have not been able to turn the TV on since I am a single parent... too much time spent on Mumsnet I suppose

Holymoly321 · 18/05/2009 18:33

MeMySonandI, Grissom went off to some remote jungle to study bugs (I'm guessing) with Sarah Sidle... really...

I like grissom, but I watch it for the science - i wish i'd done criminolistics, as they call it.

Having said that, the science bit was missing from last weeks v v v stylish episode.

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 18/05/2009 18:37

MemysonandI - you can watch it online whilst MN'ing

Saltire · 26/05/2009 23:25

Well. I was enjoying the show. Until tonight. They have finally jumped the shark as they say. What a load of rubbish it was, still haven't a clue what it was about.

pinkteddy · 26/05/2009 23:39

DH and I used to be avid CSI fans but gave up after about 3 weeks of Laurence Fishburne. It just doesn't cut it any more. Addicted to the Wire now instead!

BunnyLebowski · 27/05/2009 10:53

You're bang on holymoly - it's a mere shadow of it's former self.

It's place on my telly has been stolen by Law & Order: Criminal Intent starring Vincent D'Onofrio.....it's farking fantastic

Oh and pinkteddy - hell YES to The Wire.

Charlie Broooker claims it's the single best TV show in history......for me it's 3rd after The Sopranos and 24.

meridian · 29/05/2009 15:43

OMG did anyone watch the sci-fi convention one this week? it was gruesom.. well the embarassing fantasy sequences were... I had to hide behind a cushion... I'm squeemish with that soert of thing.. some parts were amusing but the rest?
