Forgive me as I have been away.

Is Ken (Bill Roache) actually leaving the show?

What relation is Paula (Julie's mum) to Eileen? Missed a bit here

THanks

Was pmsl at the whole Ken thing - loved the way they really hammed up the difference between Deirdre and Martha - Ken being forced to choose between Mini-Kievs and Deal or No Deal, or Earl Grey and Shakespeare.

Loved the little "sex kitten" thing Martha did in the doorway just as Ken was about to leave - very soft-focus!

Anne Kirkbride is nearly 55. Love the way they've hammed up her smoker's laugh as well. Poor Deirdre.

I wish they hadn't buggered up the Joe storyline, he started off as a normal good guy.

ProfYaffle · 05/05/2009 18:58

Yes vgl - remember the contrasting soups? Martha's home made leek and potato vs Deidre slopping out a can of Heinz!

Tinker - agree re Joe, I liked him at first.

It would be nice if someone had a happy life!

BettyTurnip · 06/05/2009 11:47

It's really gone off the boil lately. We need Liz back, also Tony Gordon needs to get his comeuppance. Hang on, more weeping and wailing from Maria when she finds out the truth? - oh God, maybe not then. Also, Carla needs to come back - the show needs a vamp! (love that word)

Nancy66 · 06/05/2009 12:06

The Tina character is just a carbon copy of Karen though.

The girl that plays Maria can't act either - there's a lot of good actors in Corrie but some god awful ones too.

The Corrie producers can be very lazy - the Windass family are just the Battersbys

ProfYaffle · 06/05/2009 13:17

Oh I don't agree it's gone off the boil Betty, I'm loving the Ken/Martha storyline (obviously!) I think it's been really well written.

I agree re recycling characters, the Battersbys were the new Duckworths iirc.

mymatekate · 06/05/2009 13:30

I loved the Liam/Marie/Carla/Tony incident, but does anyone else think that it just got conveniently forgotten - I mean if you were as convinced as Maria was that someone had murdered the love of your life, do you not think you would be going to the ends of the earth to find out? And not just forget about it and change your mind after a nice holiday in Cyprus? And you know what else I hate about soaps - people seem to get over deaths very quickly, like it's never happened!
Sorry totally hijacking this post!

stleger · 06/05/2009 13:39

I wish Karen would come back, and Tracey...just to see Steve's face.

mymatekate · 06/05/2009 13:49

Ooh yeah, a bitch fight with Karen, Tracey and BECKY!!!

browntrout · 08/05/2009 14:42

love love love Dev - he is absolutely hopeless and I can't believe that he still gets the work. I think he's hilarious. He either labours every single word or speaks at 200 miles an hour so you can hardly understand him. I would be very sad if he went. It makes me very happy when he gets a storyline involving a love interest - he really comes into his own acting wise!

Blanche is the real star of the show for me. I know someone who does the odd bit of work for Corrie and he said she is very serious and terribly professional. He also told me she had an artificial eye (which I had never noticed previously) but which I now keep looking at every time she is on. She gets some cracking lines.
