Be a slob with colour. Okayyyy. I'm quite happy being a slob in black and white tbh!

fishnet · 30/04/2009 20:27

I know a lot of it is inaccessible and impractical - how many of us are trotting off to mke our own pokers now? - but it has inspired me to stop buying boring bog standard stuff for the house.

JackBauerkillspigs · 30/04/2009 20:28

Ooh, that yarn stash

littlelamb · 30/04/2009 20:36

arf @ Madonna sat with her needles. Knitting herself a nice leotard no doubt

Everest? Yeah, calm down pet.

MaureenMLove · 30/04/2009 20:39

My wonderful DH made our fireplace, which looks very much like that one. Cost him about 20 quid!

ItsAllaBitNoisy · 30/04/2009 20:39

Like Grants place.

TwoIfBySea · 30/04/2009 20:40

Those rooms were god-awful, like someone had sicked up paint all over the place. Am patiently waiting to see what this room ends up like if that is her inspiration.

And I want to learn to knit! Does it stand to reason that if I can cross-stitch and sew then I should be able to knit okay? I have the Stitch n Bitch book...waaah, I want to knit!!!

littlelamb · 30/04/2009 20:42

Making her own shades???
I can knit, but only very simply. I love that she did about 4 inches of work and left the professional to do the rest. That's the spirit Kirstie

Right women. Lets all trot off to M&S with our lamps and "try them out".

Lol.

JackBauerkillspigs · 30/04/2009 20:46

I can't knit to save my life.
I can crochet though, and quite well if I do say so myself!
My sister is the comlpete opposite, can't crochet, can knit.

littlelamb · 30/04/2009 20:46

O my.
That room is going to be
errrr
eclectic

ItsAllaBitNoisy · 30/04/2009 20:47

/googles for lamp shade sticky stuff.

littlelamb · 30/04/2009 20:53

A cow skin rug in a play room???
How do you get ribena off that then?
And that blanket.....

OP posts:
littlelamb · 30/04/2009 20:56

Never mind the bollocks???!?!!?!?:?!

OP posts:
ItsAllaBitNoisy · 30/04/2009 20:56

I'm ok with the blanket, but agree with the rug. Grim.

NorbertDentressangle · 30/04/2009 20:57

Not your usual choice of poster for a playroom was it?

"Mummy, what does "bollocks" mean?"

MaureenMLove · 30/04/2009 20:58

I quite like the grown up sitting room.

littlelamb · 30/04/2009 20:58

Oooo will look forward to the quilting
Am still getting over that poster. What was she thinking??!

OP posts:
bramblebooks · 30/04/2009 20:59

Also cannot believe the choice of poster for the play room. A boy at my school was given the cane for bringing that record in and standing it up in the hall for all to see.

(obviously this was a few years ago. ahem)

diedandgonetodevon · 30/04/2009 21:16

But there is such a difference between doing up a house on a budget to doing it on the cheap.

Most craftsmen do let people go in and have a go but people just don't ask to do it as it just hasn't occured to them, either that or I just have too much cheek! Obviously you have to intend to buy something but you really can ask to have a go at glass blowing or whatever.

ingles2 · 30/04/2009 21:20

First time I've watched it and not overly impressed tbh.
Dh tells me, kirsty is married to the son of a props company owner and all those things in the house are from there..... wouldn't surprise me.
devon... Everytime I see your name I think of Green Wing did you watch it?

diedandgonetodevon · 30/04/2009 21:22

What's green wing?? I guess the answer to the question is no but now want to know what it is?

ingles2 · 30/04/2009 21:26

Green Wing was the best comedy drama on tv a couple of years ago. It only lasted 2 series and a special and it had Julian Rhind Tutt and Stephan Mangan in it. It had a really funny bit about died and gone to devon. T'was brilliant.

poshsinglemum · 01/05/2009 13:58

The poster in the playroom is wrong.
Like the lamp and the blanket. Don't like the draft excluder.
Liked the bath from last week.
I do enjoy this show even though it's a bit patronising.
