SuziSeis · 26/04/2009 21:57

SuziSeis · 26/04/2009 21:57

maybe it's the snow patrol!!

pottycock · 26/04/2009 21:58

My weekly blubber is underway.....

SuziSeis · 26/04/2009 21:58

i am with you potty!

pottycock · 26/04/2009 22:05

I just love the 'reveal' at the end of these programmes.....the millionaires are obviously doing it for various reasons, some more altruistic than others but I just love to see the utter shock and disbelief on the faces of the people who are in receipt of the money. What a lovely thing to be able to do for someone!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/04/2009 22:07

Just didn't engage with him at all.

Oh bollocks, forgot it was on.

Was it the Hull one tonight?

SuziSeis · 26/04/2009 22:08

i liked him - rubbish with younger kids though!

pottycock · 26/04/2009 22:13

We were rofling at him jumping into that group merrily trying to teach them the fibonacci sequence......not a clue but heart very definitely in the right place.

pottycock · 26/04/2009 22:13

SaintG - yep.

mrsmaidamess · 26/04/2009 22:16

He was far more likeable than last weeks guy who chatted to one girl in a hostel and came over all 'Mother Theresa'.

twinsetandpearls · 26/04/2009 22:38

Me too 5gomad!

I am half watching this hoping I could use a clip in my lesson tomorrow,

It reminds me of the school I used to teach in. Am feeling very guilty that I walked away to teach in my much easier school. But it takes so much out of you teaching children like thatr day in day out.

SaintGeorge · 26/04/2009 22:55

Cheers potty.

Will have to catch the repeat, I'm in Hull so really wanted to see this one.

twinsetandpearls · 26/04/2009 22:57

Snow patrol always makes me cry.

SaintGeorge · 26/04/2009 22:57

The Monday repeat that is, not the +1 one that I am missing 'cos of DH having control of the remote.

roisin · 03/05/2009 22:18

Did anyone see it tonight?

mooseloose · 03/05/2009 22:25

I did! He didn't give much away though did he??!!

sarahken · 03/05/2009 22:29

Thats my hometown thats been on tonight, very ashamed of it, looks like a complete dosshole! Very strange seeing people you know on it also. Should of name changed it looked that bad

whyme2 · 06/05/2009 17:09

It was my home town too. Although it looked grim I thought they painted a biased picture of the place. I also thought the bloke didn't really get under the skin of things hence him giving money to some random bloke to give to charity.

sarahken · 06/05/2009 19:33

Yes to be fair, they only showed Barrow Island which wasn't very representative at all of the town as a whole. He hardly visited any projects that do any good and I agree with you whyme2, to give that guy £3000, who then donated it to the hospice, which without sounding too negative, already recieves alot of funding from other places (rightly so). He then went to Kendal, which I thought was a bit random and hardly a town which needs help like Barrow. I think the people of Barrow are right to be annoyed at the way the town was potrayed, but then it wouldn't have made good tv would it, if it was potrayed more accurately?

ErnestTheBavarian · 07/05/2009 11:18

Are you talking about the foppish one?

I thought he gave 3k to that man "to give to charity" because he wanted to give it to the man really, but knew he'd be offended or too proud to take it, don't you think?

Do you think people are starting to epect it? A few faces didn't look that surprised to me.

I always think the women millionaires are more generous. That one where the woman wanted to give the single dad whose 14 yr old dd had cancer 10k. She was clearly terrified of offending him and she was barely stoping herself from crying as she wittered clumsily on, it was so touching I cried then. That dad looked so young too.

Sorry, it's on too late for me so just got a whole bunch recorded, dunno when they were aired for real.

whyme2 · 07/05/2009 16:29

I agree sarahken, he could have done much more and made more interesting tv as well.

Ernest - I got the impression the man hadn't seen anything he really wantd to support. I also thought he didn't look very hard either.
