ok, so syed is the son of zainab and masood right? am i being a pedant or is it abit unusual for 2 asian people to have a white child?
there must be thousands of asian actors that could have filled this role just as well, why didnt the bbc find one

PMSL I was waiting in the sidelines for someone to mention that I didn't like to in case I was going mad (I swore blind Tina Turner was white when I was little, but it was a weird photo on a 7" cover and I was very young ). I don't really trust my own judgement with these things

nancy75, why do you think he's white? He looks very half Asian to me. Although his name is Marc Elliot, he might be adopted. His bone structure looks nothing like the parents though, particularly the noses. Weird casting or perhaps he'll turn out to be the result of a torrid affair zainab had on the Post Office counter

Had long discussion with dd as we studied his features and tried to work out how Asian he actually was or could be.

I'd say there's definitely some asian blood in there somewhere.

IMO he isn't white. He is Asian. And finding an actor to play a child of someone they are not related too in real life is bound to bring people who don't look that alike.
