Not 'getting' Alex' from Cbeebies...why?

What is it about the man/ Seems pleasant enough but OH so submissive and just not really, well, 'there'.

I am tired of waiting for that spark of silliness or mischief - we've seen it in Cerrie, she's great, but Alex is just so drippy.
