Watching it now, really do agree with him about the news coverage of things like Baby P, Diana and Jade Goddy's death. Love him calling the news asking for emails on the subject as 'turning on the idiot magnet'

Good that he pointed out that she wasn't the worst person in the BB race row and the stupidity of the people who called into programmes like GMTV to say they hated her.
Absolutely loved his critique of the u-turn the tabloids did from hating her to making her into some kind of goddess and the awful photoshopping they did to sell papers and the terrible repetitive coverage by Sky News.

I do love him. Best of all was his 'gallery of hate' from the enraged people who 'bravely took to the internet message boards to vent their disproportionate fury'

as he says 'it's refreshing to see such spite'!

Oh I do love Charlie Brooker.

Re the 'is he that cynical all the time?' question - he appears to be on Twitter. But then he doesn't tweet that often so he may wait until his rage-o-meter is reaching red before he composes any messages.

I'm still hugging to myself his description of one of Walker's Crisps' 'experimental' flavours: 'a bore with halitosis explains the taste of charcoal to your tastebuds'.

Perhaps he's the jolliest sunniest character alive some of the time?

Ummm, maybe not.

I love the astonishing idea that those of us not subscribing to the extreme emotional response the media often stirs up are thus totally unfeeling about the death of young mother/child/whoever.
