Was v pleased to learn that this was coming to terrestrial TV (haven't seen it, have heard it's brilliant), and now I find out that it's on at friggin 11.20pm.

AAAAArgh.

is it the first series?

midnightexpress · 30/03/2009 11:57

Yes, they're going to show the whole lot from the start, apparently.

how exciting

midnightexpress · 30/03/2009 12:00

Well yes, except that I'll be fast asleep by the end of it. Hot dang.

Midnightexpress - record it! Sooooo worth keeping. Hard to get into it as it's quite complex and the dialogue is not easy to listen to at first. But I was addicted after episode 2. I had to watch it with subtitles for the first 2 series though .

I've just got to the end of series 4 on dvd and all other telly now just seems a bit rubbish...

midnightexpress · 30/03/2009 15:02

No means of recording it JMcN . DSs put paid to the VCR and not enough of a telly watcher to justify replacing it with something more 21st century.

Was just going to post about this! Everyone MUST watch it...

BitOfFun · 30/03/2009 16:11

How exciting! I've heard it's great, I'm glad it's starting from the beginning, I will definitely watch it.

Scrolled back up...I've missed it, gah!!

Is it repeated? What channel was it on?

MegBusset · 30/03/2009 16:13

You haven't missed it -- starts tonight on BBC2.

Midnightexpress -- you have the rest of the afternoon to buy a video recorder!

BitOfFun · 30/03/2009 16:15

Yey!!! Thanks

hannahsaunt · 30/03/2009 16:15

iPlayer

fruitstick · 30/03/2009 16:18

Have been watching it on FX but have a 6 week old so have the concentration of a jelly.

It's great but DH has to pause it and explain what the blinking hell they're talking about!

midnightexpress · 30/03/2009 16:23

fruitstick, that was my problem - we borrowed SIL's box set, but I fell asleep half way through episode 1 of series one and DP gave up at the end of that episode. But now that I am through sleep deprivation I figure I'll give it another go.

iPlayer a good thought, though computer room is right next to DS2's bedroom and not particularly user-friendly. Maybe I'll just have to stay up.

hannahsaunt · 30/03/2009 16:24

I think they're showing every episode of series 1 on consecutive nights so remember to set recording appropriately.

midnightexpress · 30/03/2009 16:25

Oh good grief, I can't stay up every flamin night to watch it.

Whatever happended to once a bleedin week?

OP posts:
MegBusset · 30/03/2009 16:39

Once a week isn't enough Wire! When I was working my way through the box sets I watched up to three a night...

Fruitstick: I spent the first season not understanding what was going on half the time, I find you just have to let it wash over you and by season 3 you'll be a pro at Baltimore street speak!

Molesworth · 30/03/2009 16:40

It's WELL worth staying up for - we're just about to start season 5 here

MyEye · 30/03/2009 16:41

Subtitles are essential at first.
You feel me?

JimmyMcNulty · 30/03/2009 16:44

A'ight. That mother needs subtitles, most def.

littlerach · 30/03/2009 16:50

WE wateched it back to back for weeks.

It is fab.

But it is hard to understand what they are saying at first.

midnightexpress · 30/03/2009 16:52

true dat, littlerach.

trixymalixy · 30/03/2009 17:05

Midnight, I've got a spare VCR that you can borrow or maybe even keep (better check with DH first!!).

At the moment it's just lying on the bed in our spare room and probably hasn't even been plugged in for about 3 years!!! In fact better check it works first!!

midnightexpress · 30/03/2009 17:39

Oh thakns Trixy, but don't worry - the last thing we need is more stuff for ds2 to break .

Tinker · 31/03/2009 17:40

Finally watched it even though we've all 5 series box sets now. Also watched it with subtitles one.

becstarlitsea · 08/04/2009 13:10

So now we're watching, who else is totally addicted? One a night just isn't enough. Best thing I've seen on TV in sooo long, it restores my faith that decent drama still gets made for TV sometimes. I have to tape it though - 11.20pm is way past my bedtime. I guess they have to show it that late because of the 'adult content'.

I have serious withdrawals waiting for tonight's episode... What's going to happen? What's going to happen?? { Don't tell me! } I'm all excited like DS is when he's waiting for 'Chuggington' to come on.
