Who is watching the Boat Race - BBC1 now?

Just in case anybody was interested in the rowing of course

I'm watching it

I always enjoy it but never have any preference over who wins.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 29/03/2009 15:44

Thet are looking good

Tigerschick · 29/03/2009 15:44

My DB was on the riverside a few years ago.
He spent the whole race on the phone to me asking where the crews were ... then about 15 secs of screaming and yelling as they whizzed past ... then asking me who won
Definitely one better watched from the comfort of your own home (or somewhere else with a telly!)

CompareTheMeerkat · 29/03/2009 15:46

I'm watching it - (although it's on ITV isn't it?)

Tigerschick · 29/03/2009 15:47

Yes, ITV - it's back to the beeb next year tho apparently ... not that it matters, I just noticed that the other day.

JaquelinehydeAllTheEggs · 29/03/2009 15:48

I'm watching.

DP has baggsed Cambridge so I have Oxford.

Cooking dinner is at stake.

Ooooh we have an exciting life.

Tigerschick · 29/03/2009 15:48

Who won the other race?

CompareTheMeerkat · 29/03/2009 15:48

I have been enjoying watching Craig Doyle in the build up to it

Tigerschick · 29/03/2009 15:49

LOL - DD is very cross that I've switched over from Mickey Mouse for the race itself! The build-up may have ahd her packing her bags

Tigerschick · 29/03/2009 15:54

Oh dear ... looks like a serious gap ...

Tigerschick · 29/03/2009 15:58

Well done Oxford.
What's your DH cooking you then Jaqueline??

ABetaDad · 29/03/2009 15:58

Yeah - Oxford won!

OP posts:
Jazzicatz · 29/03/2009 16:01

Haven't watched it - did Oxford win by a big margin?

Tigerschick · 29/03/2009 16:04

A couple of lengths I'd say.

Tigerschick · 29/03/2009 16:04

Actually, probably more.
It was comfortable, put it that way.

Jazzicatz · 29/03/2009 16:05

Thanks Tiger

ABetaDad · 29/03/2009 16:08

I never rowed at that level but the unique feeling of lining up on the stake boat comes back every time I watch it.

It is an immense pysical effort - the same as rowing 2 Olympic rowing finals back-to-back without stopping.

Well done to both crews. A great race.

oh bugger - I missed it - and just seen that Colin Smith was rowing again this ear - bah humbug

FAQinglovely · 29/03/2009 16:17

I don't usually have a preference - unless Colin Smith is rowing in which case it has to be Oxford

ABetaDad · 29/03/2009 16:21

Oh look - here is photo of Colin.

Colin Smith

Do you know him?

OP posts:
FAQinglovely · 29/03/2009 16:25

used to teach him music many years ago - lovely boy (well I gues he's a man now ), he used to totally obliterate the competition in the schools rowing competitions in Zim LOL. Good singer too.
