Just saw an advert for the show.

There was a woman who was 38 weeks and had only gained 8.5 lbs!

Talks about fad of not gaining weight so you can be 'back to normal' right after.

Oddly fascinated by this show and will record for sure!

How much did you all gain? Truth!

about 3 stone each time
being honest it has not all come off yet and ds2 is 8 months old

Marthasmama · 21/03/2009 15:02

5 stone each time But first time I ate everything I could get my hands on, second time I was really good but it made no difference. I lost all the weight plus more from 1st pregnancy by 15 months (and I didn't even start dieting until ds was 6 months) and I have lost 2.5 stone so far and dd is 5.5 months. It's so much hard work!

AnyMothersDayFucker · 21/03/2009 15:05

I gained about 14 lbs with first, and about 20lbs with second.

It was not a conscious decision to keep my weight down, but I am tall and slim to start with and easily lost my pg weight within 6 months without dieting or breastfeeding.

It isn't healthy to put too much weight on during pg, tbh and most people who put on too much do so 'cos they eat too much.

The textbooks say you only need an extra 250 cals/day and that is in the 2nd trimester only (less than a mars Bar!)

verygreenlawn · 21/03/2009 16:38

Five stone first time - twins. Four stone second time. Five stone third time. Each time I've lost all the weight, not really easily but it's come off.

In my case I think the weight gain is due to lack of exercise during pregnancy - not through choice, my pregnancies have been difficult - and if you go from running 25-30 miles a week to doing not a lot, the weight will pile on even if you're not eating extra. I really don't like the fact that my weight has gone up and down so drastically, but at least I've always committed to it coming down again afterwards.

Lindenlass · 21/03/2009 17:13

I lost a stone to a stone and a half each time (4 babies). Not intentionally - I ate like a horse! I think I have some hormonal thyroid thing going on when I'm pg! I put it all back on PDQ once baby starts weaning though

Sidge · 21/03/2009 17:14

Dunno how much weight I gained - I didn't weigh myself.

wuglet · 21/03/2009 17:20

Lost a couple of stone each time - think I somehow develop a metabolism when I am preg!
Put it back on afterwards though.

funtimewincies · 21/03/2009 19:39

Barely half a stone with ds but I still maintain that he was eating me from the inside . That and horrendous heartburn.

Stopped brestfeeding when there was virtually nothing left of me. I quickly got back to my comfortably curvy old self though!

bronze · 21/03/2009 19:41

I'm 35 weeks and have put on about a stone and a half but its all bump. Surely it depends how thin you are to start etc too. My baby is probably nearly a stone of that and I'm not sure how much waters and placenta are supposed to weigh

yomellamoHelly · 21/03/2009 19:56

4 stone with ds 1 (couldn't move for half of it though) - took 18 months to lose
1 1/2 stone with ds2 (really made an effort to stay fit / active) - back to normal 10 days later
4 stone so far with this pg (no time for gym and eating lots of rubbish to help me get through the day) - dread to think ow long it'll take to lose

claireybee · 21/03/2009 20:07

First time I gained 23kg but only right at the end. I vomited constantly for the first 20 weeks and lost weight so I think my body went into some kind of shock once I stopped. Lost it all within 2 months.

Second time I gained just 7kg, was desperately trying to put on more, was eating loads but just wasn't growing. Lost it all (and more)immediately.

I didn't want to be back to normal, I loved actually having curves and soft bits

saramoon · 21/03/2009 20:52

3 stone with each - and I am generally slim. Just ate alot I think.

spicemonster · 21/03/2009 20:57

F&Z - is your baby really 8 months already? Gosh!

I didn't weigh myself and didn't worry about it. My mother told me that I should be very careful and told me off for eating cakes but I ignored her. My DS is 2 and I weigh the same now as I did 8 years ago (I am not thin incidentally, just am quite pleased I'm not getting any fatter).

I will not be watching this. I am fed up to the back teeth with vacuous women.

PinkTulips · 21/03/2009 21:03

about 25kgs with dd, then only lost about 5 before getting preg with ds (that meant really i must have gained weight after having her )

gained about the same with ds1... on top of the 20kgs leftover from dd

lost most of it almost 2 years after having him so decided to get pregnant again (logically )

lost 10kgs i threw up so much for the first few months then gained about 20kgs and am now just under 70kgs 6 weeks post birth, so barely above what i was when i got preg this time but 15kgs more than pre kids

phew... that was convoluted!

superdenki · 21/03/2009 22:35

Gained 25 lbs with ds1. it all came off pretty qucikly although i certainly wasn't the same shape afterwards! my tummy looked like a deflated balloon until i got pregnant again.
am currently 33+ weeks with #2 and probably have put on about a stone or something. it'll pile on in the next few weeks when baby podges up ready for birth. i have eaten whatever i like but have been pretty active - not much choice with a lively 2 yr old and a one and a half mile walk to nursery every morning.

giantkatestacks · 21/03/2009 22:39

About 20lbs i reckon with dd and she was 9lbs3oz...the rest of it was enormo boobs...which have now sadly gone...

It was all gone within 6 weeks as well - in fact more of it went than it should have and I'm now under a dietician to put it back on again but yes I have the saggy tummy too...

sweetkitty · 21/03/2009 22:45

I'm a stone and a half lighter than I was preDC.

Weight seems to drop off after pregnancy with no effort at all (I know I know) I think it has more to do with the fact I don't work anymore and don't sit at a desk and graze on free food all day, I was paid to eat free food and give opinions on it, I think I ate a little too much of it

Now with 3 under 5 it's the best diet ever too busy to eat.

candyfluff · 22/03/2009 07:17

i put on 3 stone with my first ,2 stone with my second and 12pounds with my 3rd
will be watching this show and shouting at the women for being so vain

i lost about 1.5 stone with DD1 but i was overweight to start with and i think it was just as a result of not drinking
pregnant at the mo and hoping it goes the same way - as i put weight back on again - but am more hungry this time so who knows.

emmabemmasmom · 22/03/2009 09:36

Whew good replies!

Nice to see that we are all normal no matter how much we gain!

I do not know how much I gained with DD #1 as I did not weigh myself, however it was a good amount. Only started getting back into my old jeans when she was 9 months old...and then I got pregnant again!

I am now 32 weeks pregnant with DD #2 and I think I have only gained about 16 lbs. However, we have been going through a lot of stress and I was very sick in the beginning. Some weeks I lost weight through no fault of my own...but then the next I would gain them back!

I am not really bothered about how much I gain as I know I eat healthy (even with the indulgence in chocolate!). I may not work out as much as I feel to big to even walk through town!

I will be watching this for sure! I think it is really sad that in this day and age many celebs are killing themselves to be thin and show that they didn't even have a kid within weeks of the birth...it cannot be good for their bodies and I think watching it will make us all feel better for being normal and loosing the weight with time and diet...

I only put on about 10lbs when PG with DS - I was depressed so had to force myself to eat enough at times, it certainly wasn't deliberate!

It drives me mad that the sleb mags are so full of the baby weight stories, like the only thing of relevance to motherhood as a sleb is how quickly they get back into size 6.
