Shippers unite! What's your favourite TV romance?

So, what are your favourite TV relationship? I am a complete shipper (i.e. investing in a programme for the relationships). My top favourites are:

No.1 Mulder and Scully: the classic 'will-they-won't-they', full of latent sexual tension, teasers from the writers, a relationship where you knew whether or not they were together, they were really in love. My teenage obsession! (God I'm such a closet geek)

No.2 Donna and Josh in the West Wing: drawn out until the last series, not the only relationship to develop in this series, but certainly the most desired.

No.3: Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice (The BBC version only, don't give me any of your Kiera Knightly crap!): Ok, I know it's really a book, one of the greatest literary love stories IMO, and we all knew they'd get together in the end anyway (it said so in the book) but you can't beat Colin Firth's proclaimation to 'Dearest, loveliest Elizabeth'

So, what are your top TV romances?

I loved Cybil Shephard and Bruce Willis in Moonlighting.

That surgeon Mac and the dark haired surgeon girl in Green Wing

Mulder/Scully, very much the original for me. Makes me feel a bit creaky now, though.

Lister/Kochanski because it's just funny. And on related note - Gordon Brittas and Julie. Yeah, that's a pretty wierd one, I know...

Doctor/Rose (Nine or Ten, don't mind), because it's just wrong and right at the same time.

Mitchell/Annie from Being Human, because angst mixed with happy geekness is just wonderful.

Gene Hunt/Alex Drake, because Gene Hunt bullishly flirting is neccessary.

Spike/Buffy because Angel wasn't nearly sarcastic enough.

SciFiFan · 08/03/2009 18:55

I'm with you on Mulder/Scully and Elizabeth/Mr Darcy.

I'm also with Kay re Spike/Buffy - James Marsters was simply hot fab as Spike.

Also have to admit to Ross and Rachel in Friends though not in later series as well as Daphne/Niles in Frasier.

KayHarkersHeartBelongsToTen · 08/03/2009 19:17

Colin Firth's Darcy is magnificent. The looks he gives Lizzie are epic.

RustyBear · 08/03/2009 19:21

I'm a Spuffy fan too.

And JD and Elliott in Scrubs.

MaureenMLove · 08/03/2009 19:25

Sheila and Billy on Brookside are still my all time favourites!

KayHarkersHeartBelongsToTen · 08/03/2009 19:25

Oh, he so deserved her more than Angel, too. Actually went and got himself a soul for her. Loved it.

goblinvalley · 08/03/2009 19:27

Mulder/Scully

Josh/Donna

John/Delenn - Babylon 5

Geoff/Kate - Flying Doctors

squeaver · 08/03/2009 19:27

Maureen - that's the first one I though of - absolute classic!!

serenity · 08/03/2009 19:38

Ships?

Mulder/Scully
Brennan/Booth (Bones)
Definite Spuffy, preferred Cordy/Angel for Angel

goblinvalley · 08/03/2009 19:40

Ooops, nearly fogot

John/Aeryn - Farscape

Tidey · 08/03/2009 19:40

I love the relationship between Brennan and Booth in Bones, but wouldn't like it if they actually got together, it would ruin the programme.

KayHarkersHeartBelongsToTen · 08/03/2009 19:47

Oo, yes, only seen two episodes of Bones, but yes, definitely Brennan/Booth.

Ist me, or are lots of these because we like the flirty foreplay, so to speak, more than the consumation? Like, we don't really want to see it, we want to stay in a state of anticipation for the longest time possible? So them actually getting together kills it stone dead?

MaureenMLove · 08/03/2009 19:50

Oh thank god Squeaver! I still vividly remember shouting at the TV, telling Billy to turn the taps off on the bath, so he could hear Sheila ringing the phone!

serenity · 08/03/2009 20:01

I like the tension usually, anticipation is best - can't stand it when relationships get all domestic (which is why Spuffy is cool, they might have got together, sort of, but it was never comfortable)

That reminds me, I need to get on with some fic tonight, going to log off now and take my laptop to bed with me.

bea · 08/03/2009 20:31

absolutely Mulder and Scully was there ever such a shipper moment as when they played baseball together!? Sigh!!!!!

and loved loved David/Maddie Moonlighting although it did go horribley wrong when they did get together! If ever there was an ad NOT to get UST (Unresolved Sexual Tension! goodness that takes me back to my fan fic reading days!!!) resolved this was it!!!!

Bumperlicioso · 08/03/2009 21:21

Blimey, I've not heard of half of these! I need to watch more TV

Actually I vaguely remember the Buffy ones.

Oh, Mulder and Scully, so many moments... You Tube is great as there are loads of fans who have put together montages of all the Mulder/Scully moments and put them to cheesy music. It's the sort of thing I might have done as a 17 year old had I more technical editing skills.

I agree about Rachel and Ross, it was great the first time round but then it just got dull dull dull! I forgot about Daphne and Niles though, but that got boring after they got together. It's the thrill of the chase I love.

I haven't read much fanfic, except a book called The Bar Sinister, a sequel following Mr Darcy's and Elizabeth after they were married, with all the dirty bits in it too!

Rachel and Ross - the early days until the kiss.
Miranda and Steve - their get together at Brady's birthday party makes me cry every time Paramount Comedy show it which is about once a month!
But, Elizabeth and Darcy will always be the heart clenching, throat lumping ultimate love story. I wish he would 'ardently admire and love' me!

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 11/03/2009 22:30

Definitely Gene Hunt and Alex......just get it over with

serenity · 12/03/2009 14:16

Having just watched the first 4 episodes of S5 of House I so want to say House/Wilson, but I accept this is neither the forum or the thread for that

Seeline · 12/03/2009 14:20

Moonlighting was one of my all time favourites. Another one (I'm to admit this) was a series with Zoe Wannamaker and Adam Faith - I can't remeber the name, about 15 years ago.

annaje · 12/03/2009 14:47

Buffy and Angel & Buffy and Spike - both very different, Angel was the tragic love, Spike was lust....

Izzie and Denny on Grey's Anatomy (shite programme - but you can't deny his charm - and now he's back ).

Moonlighting was great!

KayHarkersHeartBelongsToTen · 12/03/2009 14:51

Oh yeah, that Adam Faith one was named after a song which complately escapes me. Had the word 'love' in it, I think.
