What has happened to Shameless?

I know Paul Abbott isn't writing it anymore, but it seems like all the characters have had personality transplants. Frank is now a wise old philosopher who gives sage advice to everyone, Mimi is now someone who wear her heart on her sleeve and not the bulldog she used to be... and so on. It seemes to have become a parody of itself.

I was thinking that - also it seems to be they have run out of plots so they just fill in with shagging. Not good.

You're right, geordieminx. The thing that gets me is some of the characters have had complete U-turns just to make a story work, rather than fitting story to character iyswim. Take Shane for e.g. He used to be completely violent, odd-ball and is now a reasnable, fairly gentle guy. Just doesn't make sense. Can't believe Kelly would've fixed him out THAT much! Even so, I still have to watch it LOL!

I know! its gone down hill! think they just try to go for new shock tactics everyweek rather than coming up with clever story lines

They last it after series 2 in my everso humble opinion. 3 was full of people being headbutted on the weakest of pretexts. Real shame, as it were. Really looked forwards to it.
Mistresses as well! Diffeences is that it's the same bunch of women with exactly the same reactions to slightly differing circumstances. They should have just made Series 1 again except with more funny lines. And more sex.

Agree about Shameless. Why is Debbie suddenly a shoplifting slapper when all along she's been the sensible one? The characters aren't that believable any more and even Micky, the gay McGuire is a bit annoying and I used to love him.
Mistresses is annoying me too (maybe its PMT) but why why why would you have another affair after having a baby with another man, and why would you have an affair with your married boss when you nearly lost your career for sleeping with a patient and his son in the last series.
Totally unbelievable - these women think like men!!!
