What is with the kiwi that sounds like Dame Edna? Kiwis are not from Australia FGS...and breathe.

And her beak isn't long enough!

I love 3rd and bird

LadyOfWaffle · 13/02/2009 18:40

Are you the bird watcher? Think I saw you on a thread a few weeks back....

treacletart · 13/02/2009 18:41

She sounds like Maureen Lipman I think...

clarebear1 · 13/02/2009 22:17

i love 3rd and bird, cant help but sing the muffin song and the jordan one!

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 13/02/2009 22:24

3rd - doo doo doo 3rd and bird da de da - ok sorry - i will listen out for dame edna next time but my kids love it and i just cant help but sing along - in fact its noticeable that i sing along to most cbeebies songs on our house - dont get me started on chuggington chugga chugga chugga chuggag chuggington

Vamanos · 13/02/2009 22:28

aha - a 3rd and Bird thread, good! Can anyone please enlighten me as to WTF 'Baby Jordan' is????

Is there a character with that name, or have they just inserted the name Jordan into the theme tune to make it extra irritating? It has been bugging me all week [saddo]

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 13/02/2009 22:32

oh yes, baby jordan. He's Mr beakman's nephew and Muffin does not like him at all as he does a cute dance 'the baby jordan' that is deemed cuter than her dance 'the muffin'. We LOVE 3rd and bird here, it's so weird but very innocent and pretty colours.

strawberrycornetto · 13/02/2009 22:34

Tap tap tap and clap clap clap, just like Baby Jordan

We love it here too

WriggleJiggle · 13/02/2009 22:34

That kiwi thing, who tonight was hopping around in the tree - I thought kiwis couldn't fly? How did it get into the tree?

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 13/02/2009 22:36

do the muffin, do the muffin..

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 13/02/2009 22:37

so whilst we're at it... what do you think is the cutest dance? the baby Jordan or the Muffin?! .

I vote Muffin.

Vamanos · 13/02/2009 22:38

oh, excellent explanation, thank you

I'm undecided about whether I can wholly commit to liking 3rd and Bird (or Turd and Bird as it is known in our house). DD loves it, so it is certainly good for a few minutes peace while I MN make tea.

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 13/02/2009 22:40

Oh, I hate it! Even more than Todworld - the same teeth-grittingly cutesy moralising and bad artwork.
WHat I reckon would improve it is if you took the cast and did that medieval recipe where you stuff a wren inside a goose inside a swan etc then roast the bastards.

Vamanos · 13/02/2009 22:49

Actually I did have a thought as to why they have included the Aussie/Kiwi bird, as well as having an American-address styled title - could they be styling it to also appeal in the USA, Australia and NZ? Maybe a Canadian character will pop up next week.

Vamanos · 13/02/2009 22:52

Am quite liking the Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall recipe roasting idea... maybe it could be served with muffins on the side?

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 14/02/2009 00:31

Isn't it a US-made programme?

PinkyMinxy · 14/02/2009 00:50

Big fans of 3rd and Bird in our house. Especially the episode about the big red button.

FAQinglovely · 14/02/2009 00:53

we have "just like babeeee TK" (DS3) in this house.

often singing along to that one - and chuggington - both of which DS3 adores

PinkyMinxy · 14/02/2009 09:24

LOve the way peole are worried about how the Kiwi got up the tree- crossed my mind, too.

But then if she's also a keen gardener, weears a hat and they all sing show tunes, a little more suspension of disbelief won't be a big stretch!

Vamanos · 14/02/2009 10:19

SGB - seems it is a USA/UK hybrid

see here

Guess that makes sense, the bunting cupcake accents combined with the American address thing.

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 14/02/2009 10:26

Thanks for that Vamanos, though reading it annoyed me even more; I hate the syrupy worthiness of programmes like that. I knew it had to be strongly American-influenced because UK kids TV is never quite so nauseatingly in-your-face about 'commuity values'.

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 14/02/2009 15:51

3rd and Bird rock. love it in this house.

However I've only just found out Rudy (the red one) is actually a girl! And just to annoy you all further, watch the bracelet on her leg next time. It swaps from her left to right foot in each scene. Bugs me now I've noticed it

bronze · 14/02/2009 15:52

I fecking hate that program. Yes that much. Its an even more annoying vrsion of the wonderpets if thats possible

WowOoo · 14/02/2009 16:04

Unfortunately my son loves it and now I have 'do the muffin' stuck in my head. It's not too bad. Prefer Backyardigans anyday.
