Firstly Bob the Builder. When they move to Sunflower Valley, Wendy doesn't seem to be there. But in the DVD we have of Series One there seems to be a romantic subplot between Bob and Wendy. Has he left her for another woman, man, or even machine? What happened? Is Bob mirroring the antics of player Neil Morrissey?

Secondly In the Night Garden. DS asked me where Iggle Piggle puts his boat when he arrives at the garden. I told him that he puts it on a beach and then comes into the woods to play with his friends. He pointed out that it doesn't look like seaside and you can't hear the sea. I find myself stumped by a 2 year old. Any ideas?

Thirdly Postman Pat's Special Delivery Service. Why do the residents of Greendale put up with this shoddy service? Does Pat have some kind of hold over them, or is he well-connected with the underworld causing them to be too afraid to complain? Or are they just aware that Pat is the big star, and if they complain their career in the reality TV world will be over? I mean, he loses everything or damages it, by the time people get stuff it's half broken. he is always late, and then everyone cheers and says that he's saved the day. Something is very suspicious about this postman...

Fourthly (and finally I promise!) Charlie and Lola - why does no-one call social services about these children? Charlie has taken on a parental role in the family while still at primary school. You never see the mother, I can only assume that she's sitting off-camera in a gin-soaked haze. They're like the love children of Kate Moss and Russell Brand - beautifully dressed, lovely flat, trendy friends, but you wouldn't let your kid go round to play, would you?

Glad I got that little rant off my chest. Congrats if you got this far

LOL

Macdog · 07/02/2009 19:41

Charlie and Lola patently have a MNer for a mother

becstarlitsea · 07/02/2009 19:42

Ah-ha! Macdog, you're right, all becomes clear

choufleur · 07/02/2009 19:43

there's an episode of charlie and lola when their mum takes them to the dentist then leaves them to werak havoc in teh waiting room while she has her teeth done.

nickytwotimes · 07/02/2009 19:44

Haven't seen Sunflower Valley, so I can't help there.

Iggle Piggle's boat stumps me too.

Postman Pat MUST be connected a la Sopranos - it is th eonly explaination.

Yes - I wonder about the absence of Charlie and Lola's parents too.

missblythe · 07/02/2009 19:44

Alos, re, Postman Pat SDS, it's hardly any wonder the Royal Mail is running at such a loss, when he regularly has to get Ben to get the frickin helicopter ready to rescue another lost parcel, even though the recipient has only paid about £3 to have it delivered.

becstarlitsea · 07/02/2009 19:48

It's true! Pat's doing 'deliveries' for the mob on the side, otherwise you wouldn't have it would you? When he was delivering that golden elephant DH and I could hardly bear to look. What was Nisha thinking, entrusting a priceless family heirloom to that eejit? I mean, he let a dog gnaw on it, then let a magpie take the jewel, and at the end everyone cheers him and says 'Oh Pat you've saved the day'.

OP posts:
bran · 07/02/2009 19:48

Pat is having sex with just about everyone in Greendale, haven't you noticed that there are an unusual number of children with frizzy red hair? He must be a real stud in the sack to get away with being such a washout as a postman.

becstarlitsea · 07/02/2009 19:53

bran, I never noticed that, you're right. Oh dear god, I have horrible visions of Pat and Mrs Taylor from the school 'at it' round the back of Ted Glenn's garage. Urgh... That's just so very wrong.

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 07/02/2009 20:03

who is Mrs Taylor? Is it right that Mr Pringle from the school left to go to Africa and had left his son in Greendale? or did my boys make that up for a joke?

Charlie and Lola went to stay with their grandparents the other week.

I had never thought about Iggle Piggles boat. Isn'the asleep in it still on the sea while he just dreams about the night garden?

Isn't Wendy still in Bobsville with Bobs mum and Dad running the yard? In series 1 she was only the secratry, now she's a better builder than Bob!

becstarlitsea · 07/02/2009 20:09

Mrs Taylor is the blonde one at the school.
I dunno about Mr Pringle - he's the one with the polo neck who looks a bit like Kenneth Branagh?

If the night garden is all Iggle Piggle's dream does that mean that there's no such person as Upsy Daisy? I feel strangely cheated by that.

Wendy's with Bob's Mum & Dad? So she's like 'their choice for DIL'? 'Don't worry love, he'll come to his senses, he's just got his wild oats to sow..'

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 07/02/2009 20:53

Mr Pringle was the Geordie school teacher.

fruitstick · 07/02/2009 20:58

Can I also add my own?

Just what is going on with Stan and Ryan and Amy's mother in Little Red Tractor?

If I were their father I would spend less time jogging and more time keeping an eye on his wife. Is Stan their real Dad and jogger boy being taken for a mug?

littleboyblue · 07/02/2009 20:59

Hahaha Just the other day I was saying pretty much the same thing to dp about Postman Pat

5inthebed · 07/02/2009 21:48

My idea on Iggle Piggle - he is the new Dr Who! Have you seen how small the ninky nonk is until he gets on it? So if he wants to travel to some far off world where there is a forrest on a beach, he is entitled to in his ninky nonk tardis.

And I was wondering the other day while watching Balamory, what would ofsted make of the nursery? Surely Miss Hoolie isnt giving the correct teacher/child ratio, and she always has visitors there without prior concent from the parents!

Amapoleon · 07/02/2009 21:50

I want to know when Rudy from me too! suddenly became married to the trumpet player and why she has no contact with their child?

becstarlitsea · 07/02/2009 21:51

So I'm not the only one watching CBeebies with my mind racing trying to find some kind of narrative that makes sense in the programmes? That's good then.

OP posts:
lottiejenkins · 07/02/2009 21:53

On Nick Jr you never see Max and Rubys parents either... Grandma sometimes pops up though

PortAndLemon · 07/02/2009 21:58

Charlie and Lola's parents feature occasionally plotwise (their mother drives them places, for example), although I have no recollection of actually seeing them in the series.

In official plot terms Wendy stays at the old yard to run it until Robert can take over and she can move to Sunflower Valley. I think she does show up in some of the (presumably later) Sunflower Valley episodes.

Me Too makes no sense at all.

keepingitRia · 07/02/2009 22:03

I didn't know the veg man was married to the trumpet player. Taymond does not look enough enough to have a child with the pink taxi woman either. And they seem quite lax in the school and hospital about who wanders where. How many RL childminders look after dogs?

I worry about Miss Hoolie not remembering our names, and her thing with PC Plum...

weebump · 07/02/2009 22:11

becstarlitsea, that was hilarious

The only one I can help you with is Iggle Piggle. He is in fact dreaming in his boat. in his dreams he is in the night garden, a world behind the stars. Hope that helps.

weebump · 07/02/2009 22:21

Isn''t Balamory very diverse for a small Scottish island town?
I particularly like the bit where the 2 shop keeper ladies do their song, one of them is in a wheelchair. The able-bodied lady jumps up an sings "I can do this" and the poor woman in the wheelchair just kind of shrugs and sings "and I can do this." WTF?

catweazle · 07/02/2009 22:31

My DSs (17 and 21 ) are very concerned about Iggle Piggle being asleep on a boat on the open sea. They think it is dangerous and that he is at risk of Exposure or falling out into the sea..

MadameStripes · 07/02/2009 22:32

DP found this about In The Night Garden (he is now obsessed). See the third paragraph of Overview about Iggle Piggle's comings and goings...

MadameStripes · 08/02/2009 09:23

Sorry, cross posted about Iggle Piggle. (Now there's a sentence I never thought I'd write a year ago).
