are there no 'schools programs' anymore?

School closed so ds (9) at home today. I need to get some work done sometime, so thought I'd look if there were any interesting educational programs on. Back when CBBC started, they seemed to make up the daytime output.

But there aren't any, and I can't find any anywhere.

Am I out of date, has the concept disappeared altogether?

I'm sure they have schools programmes on in a morning on channel 2 still but probably not later on in the day.

Books? DVDs? Are his friends off too presumably?

Well I've been right thru the Radio Times listings, and it's nearly all dire.

I never put tv on in the daytime, now I know why.

When I was a child, if I had a day off sick I'd watch some schools programs, as well as reading/painting etc.

I think they put them on in the night so you can sky+ or whatever them!

I remember them on BBc2 (mind you I'm 38 now so going back a bit). Picture Box sticks in my mind!
