And I haven't got a bloody clue what anyone is on about on there

I really am ignorant about anything economic/financial in nature

I don't even get the basic terminology

Im confused too.

Im watching it cos I went to school with the millionaire 27 year old!

notnowbernard · 12/01/2009 21:27

What the ex-vet?

I have no idea, really no idea

They might as well be talking about nuclear physics

No the guy Anton, who is looking after them. He displayed all the traits in school of being a ruthless, arrogant trader type.

DP is trying to explain financial stuff to me but its making it worse.. and if he is honest Im not sure he understands it fully either.

Darkmere · 12/01/2009 21:33

Although to be honest he already seems less cocky than he was in school. He has done very well for himself... teachers used to despair of him and told him he had no hope!!

notnowbernard · 12/01/2009 21:35

There's not much behind the eyes, is there... he is a bit robot-like. S'pose you have to be to survive that environment

Hang on, which one's Anton? The one on the floor with them?

i want to know why she is an "ex vet" at 26? did she kill pets? neck ketamine? how much does it cost to train a vet?

Darkmere · 12/01/2009 21:37

Yep- the one on the phone to Lex..

Allnew I wondered that too

Molesworth · 12/01/2009 21:39

snort @ the insanely competitive bloke who has to monitor his heart rate so he doesn't run too fast

notnowbernard · 12/01/2009 21:40

She doesn't strike me as a gal who likes her ketamine

WHO are they on the phone to?!

OP posts:
Darkmere · 12/01/2009 21:41

I like the doddery bloke who is eating his Alpen over his keyboard.

Darkmere · 12/01/2009 21:49

Oh no my guy has got "shit for brains".

Molesworth · 12/01/2009 21:50

I just know I'd be the doddery shitforbrains loss maker if I were on there

Darkmere · 12/01/2009 21:51

I'd be the one consulting mumsnet while nobody was looking.

notnowbernard · 12/01/2009 21:52

Has Anton had Botox...?

OP posts:
ElfOnTheTopShelf · 12/01/2009 21:52

God I feel for some of these traders, it must be difficult to do this job normally, but in the current market, it must be impossible!

OllieWollieWoo · 12/01/2009 21:52

I'm munching my second curly wurly to cope with the stress - even tho I have no idea what they are doing!

notnowbernard · 12/01/2009 21:54

(I mean me, not Anton)

I'm absolutely lost now

OP posts:
Darkmere · 12/01/2009 21:55

After retiring at 27 I'd probably get round to trying botox just for something to do..

YOu know apart from the bags under his eyes he doesn't look all that different from school.

OllieWollieWoo · 12/01/2009 21:56

They were v unlucky to pick such a diff week to do this in tho!

Molesworth · 12/01/2009 21:58

Did he just say he was going to destroy Dustin Hoffman?

Darkmere · 12/01/2009 21:58

Why is everyone they talk to on the phone a scouser?

notnowbernard · 12/01/2009 22:00

Yes, WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE! (On the other end of the phones)

Help me understand

OP posts:
Darkmere · 12/01/2009 22:02

Apparently its a hotline straight to Liverpool- who knew?

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 14/01/2009 08:18

sorry after i started a new thread thought i'd better check.

I think they are on the phone to actual traders who will commit the deals for them on the systems in the real world, you aren't allowed to trade unless you have various exams so this is probably why.

My DH was saying but they are just sitting there looking at screens not actually doing much - yes darling thats what traders do!

I would also love to know how you can be an-vet after training for 7 years at least.

I don't agree with the whole "we earn our money" line, yes its very stressful but god a&e staff surely have much more stress and they are dealing in human lives, not to mention all the other proper stressful jobs.
