Definitely not alone. I was sad for about a week after watching that the first time! But have you seen the final episode of the last series?

morningpaper · 10/01/2009 22:12

yah he sends like a clone back, doesn't he?

BUT STILL

there there!
how many boxes of tissues do you need?

pinkspottywellies · 10/01/2009 22:13

I blubbed about the first 3 or 4 times I saw it. (I say blubbed, I totally roared )

cornsilk · 11/01/2009 16:15

I also think it's really sad. Also the bit where the void closes and they are on either side of it and Rose is hysterical.

UnquietDad · 11/01/2009 16:20

That bit on the beach is a bit overdone, if I'm honest. Verges on schmaltz. The bit about ten minutes earlier when she actually falls into the Void and it seals up is far better done.

And don't you think Tennant looks a bit odd in the beach scene? Slightly pale and unwell?

cornsilk · 11/01/2009 16:27

Yes but he's a hologram UQD!

pinkspottywellies · 11/01/2009 16:43

Actually you're right UQD, the void bit was what got me - I was just still wracked with sobs at the end! Then in the next series, the merest glance of Rose or the music from the beach part would set me off again!

BecauseImWorthIt · 11/01/2009 18:52

I didn't just cry, I sobbed!

KayHarkerIsInDenial · 11/01/2009 20:05

It's definitely the void scene for me. The full-gut scream that Tennant gives as she falls towards the void is just so powerful, and that awful moment of being just a few centimetres, but whole dimensions away from each other.

What still makes me cry about the beach scene in Doomsday is Rose, just after the Doctor has disappeared, and the hopeful look she has that just crumples into despair. And then seeing the Doctor's tears and his mouth just forming the word 'I..'

Oh, you sod, I'm going to have to watch The Stolen Earth again just to make myself feel better.

morningpaper · 11/01/2009 20:42

they were both quite excellent actors in the void scene

DD screamed and cried at the time. She was only 6!

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/01/2009 20:47

my favourite, favourite is where Rose and the fabulous Christopher Eccleston kiss

MadameOvary · 11/01/2009 20:53

I loved that the "human" doctor was as he was when Rose first met him. That made it all the more poignant, and you just know she'll sort him out and they'll have several kids

MadameOvary · 11/01/2009 20:55

"You need a doctor"
Yes I love that scene too.

KayHarkerIsInDenial · 11/01/2009 21:37

I love what Madame Barrowman says about the scene with Rose and Nine in The Parting of the Ways - that the kiss is what the Doctor had been wanting to do for ages in the series - certainly since The Empty Child two-parter. Hmm, think I might watch some series one now.

I don't think the human Doctor was as the Doctor was when he first met her, though. Lucky cow got a Doctor who already wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. The Timelord Doctor only said that because he was trying to 'sell' it to Rose, methinks. He's a big martyr to angst, so he is.

UnquietDad · 11/01/2009 22:56

He never showed any interest in snogging before no.8, did he? (Apart from that unintentional engagement to Cameca the Aztec lady - we all know that was just a misunderstanding.) Even with Leela flashing thigh left, right and centre. Even with Tegan walking around the TARDIS in a - quite frankly - arse-huggingly gorgeous and slutty leather mini-skirt. And even with Romana 2 quite outrageously flirting with him.

edam · 11/01/2009 23:00

the only time my father ever paid much attention to Dr Who was when Louise Jamieson turned up.

Habbibu · 11/01/2009 23:01

Who are you, and what have you done with the real morningpaper?

morningpaper · 12/01/2009 17:02

I KNOW

scrapbooking and crying at Dr Who in the same month

maybe I should do a pregnancy test

Next thing your DH will be turning up at work with a cake tin...

UnquietDad · 13/01/2009 09:40

Only worry if you start making a Doctor Who scrapbook.

traceybath · 13/01/2009 09:51
