I argue with the dc - they fill it up with Pokemon and Tom and Jerry which they never watch and they complain about my Eastenders being on there.

hannahlouhoo · 07/01/2009 21:22

all the time everyday! luckily my dc is 9 months old and doesnt get a say!!

Ambi · 07/01/2009 21:24

oh don't get me started on it old bloody episodes of Top Gear are on there when he watches them on you tube and repeats are always on Dave. Its about as stupid as me recording friends when its on e4 about 10 times a day.

So to answer your question, me and dp may have discussed it once or twice

lizziemun · 07/01/2009 21:29

No we got multi room so he can record and watch his crap programmes in his office and i have mine in the front room.

catweazle · 07/01/2009 21:33

I've got a whole series of Desperate Housewives on there (because I haven't seen the previous series- got it for Xmas). DH and DS1 like to record The Avengers and Top Gear- why?! and DS2 recorded some obscure Japanese film..

StepfordKnife · 07/01/2009 21:35

Errr, no!

Do you not delete things after you have watched them? I don't think we have ever been over 60% capacity

Also, if you have long standing things on there that you haven't yet viewed (> 1 month), then you are not going to watch them and are better off deleting

dietstartstomorrow · 07/01/2009 21:44

We have the same kind of thing but not sky+

DH is always going through like the 'head master' asking 'whos is this' and 'did you watch this yet'.

It drives me mad, and we have 100 hours FFS!

HolyGuacamole · 07/01/2009 23:46

Is it the white box? It has 80GB of personal space which they say is 40 hours possible recording time.

If it is the Sky+ HD black box, it has 160GB, 80 hours of normal programmes or 30 hours of HD programmes.

HTH

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 09/01/2009 12:39

EXACTLY what happens at our place. I'm excited when I get our Freeview box capacity to over 20%. I keep telling DH we WILL watch the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, Simon Schama's series on America, The Ascent of Money, all those programmes about whales...

compo · 13/01/2009 14:23

StepfordKnife - yes we delete them after we've watched them, the problem is dh hasn't watched Heroes!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/01/2009 15:14

if dh hasnt watched after a month, i would delete, esp if running out of space!!

lazymumofteenagesons · 13/01/2009 15:21

After about 3 weeks I delete his Top Gear/ice truckers etc. Most of the time he doesn't notice.

Pinkjenny · 13/01/2009 15:22

My dh gets really antsy when the capacity goes down to less than 60%. It's hilarious. He's a right weirdo sometimes!

PuppyMonkey · 13/01/2009 15:27

I am officially the only person on MN who doesn't have Sky + as DP is against it for political reasons. Or he thinks it's a rip off. i can't remember which.

bluebump · 13/01/2009 15:30

My DH has used about 80% of our capacity recording his rubbish but spends his whole time moaning about to 10% or so that I have recorded.

GrinnyPig · 13/01/2009 15:34

Yes DH records everything in HD which takes up loads of space. I have been known to delete things accidentally.

OhBling · 13/01/2009 15:35

Pinkjenny, mine is the same. It gets down to about 25% and he starts to panic!

We don't argue much. But it has to be admitted that that's mostly because DP always lets me be 95% in charge of all recordings on Sky+ and if it starts to get a bit tight, he'll delete any random movies he's recorded to watch!

Puppy - tell him he's a fool!

snigger · 13/01/2009 15:42

Dh doesn't like it, but last time he hacked me off I changed the security code and locked every channel but God Tv and the Wedding Channel, and he doesn't know the new number, so he's docile as a lamb.

I hated having to get Sky, I'm a serious hater of Rupert Murdoch, but the treeline by the house is now insurmountable for normal aerials, but the Sky dish points in completely the other direction on the side of the house. At least, that's what DH said ...

VampiresWalkin · 13/01/2009 15:56

No sky+ here - just go with the arguments and enjoy having the option

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/01/2009 16:13

god ice truckers

i have about 5 epidsodes of this and also extreme fishing - therefore using up 10hrs about 50%

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

elkiedee · 22/01/2009 01:06

We have the Virgin Media version, was Telewest. I filled up our first box to near capacity on my own and was always running out, in some ways it was a relief that it crashed and I had to start from scratch. I now have about 20 hours of stuff, only 1 of which is for dp. We don't argue about it, he lets me be in charge of what I/we watch in the evenings. In the daytime by preference I would have music or Radio 4 on, if ds1 is around it's CBeebies at all times between 7 and 7, then it's bath and bedtime - not my choice but it seems to be unavoidable. But then I watch Baby Time programmes on Discovery Home & Health in the mornings now.

Docbunches · 22/01/2009 09:20

My DP and I don't exactly row about Sky+, but he does have a really annoying habit of recording some random film from halfway through.... so as a result, we have a load of useless 'Part rec' listings on our planner! It drives me mad! After a while, I delete them without telling him, he never notices.

Fable · 22/01/2009 09:30

My dh also starts panicing when it gets down to 60% which I dont understand as there is over half the space left.

He says it slows it down

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/01/2009 09:34

I DID IT

I PRESSED YELLOW!!!

mrshammond · 22/01/2009 09:41

I frequently want to throttle my DH - he's always saying "Have you watched this - can I delete it?" Like you fable, he gets all twitchy when it goes below about 60%. Sometimes I record a load of old tat just to use up space and see his face!!!!!!!

Cruel - moi?!
