Worst Xmas TV moments

I wanted to crawl behind the sofa in embarassment at the sheer awfulness of the opening sequence of Eastenders Xmas Day episode. Sean Slater acting SO out of character doing his rum pum pump a pump Jonah Louie Stop the Cavalry karaoke number out in the square. It was excrutiating! I know they were trying to create some contrast to the state he would be in at the end of the show when he found out he wasn't the father but really. The writers must have got confused between him and Gary or Minty.

Jury is still out in our house on the appearance of Jim...

Isn't he bi-polar though? Alternating periods of extreme gloom with extreme happiness.

mawbroon · 28/12/2008 22:18

Jim was in it a few months ago glasjam. Think it was for somebody's birthday or something, can't really remember.

I was very surprised because I was sure that I had read somewhere that the actor had died in RL Obviously not eh?

Headfairy, I think that's definitely a diagnosis one could guess at based on that performance (not that I'm qualified to do so I hasten to add) But the writers have spent a long time establishing his background (bi-polar mother, abusive father who he murdered didn't he?, his army background, anger "issues" etc.) and to suddenly turn him into this cuddly/loveable buffoon one minute and then a raging, monster the next is just bad, inconsistent writing.

But that's not exactly new in Eastenders - they like their cartoon characters - Heather being a case in point.

EE was definitely a lot better last year with the Stacey/Max storyline

ComeWhineWithMe · 29/12/2008 14:01

Yes it was quite cringeworthy ,the actor even looked a bit to be doing it.

Oh and the so unlikely everyone have dinner at the beales storyline ,I can't stand the bloke who plays Janes brother he is so smug and can't act at all.
